I just touched down Bangkok, Thailand today without realising that STEEMFEST doesn't really start until two days time.

I suppose I was just so excited and have been so preoccupied with preparations for this Saturdays workshop that I had simply overlook the fact.

I am staying at Cubic Beds Pratunam in the heart of the city. Getting to Pratunam from the airport was easy... but because I was carrying a large carton of presents for my distant cousins who I will be catching up with later on Sunday... what was supposed to be a 10-minute walk to the hotel felt like an hour.

On the plus side, I got to see a lot of sights along the way...

Mainly Pratunam market and a lot of teaser street food including a salted baked fish over charcoal fire that costs only THB 100!

For dinner, I felt nothing could be better to kickstart this Thailand trip with a really good Tom Yam Goong (red colour clear tom yum soup).

So I went to try out this GongTong restaurant 3 minutes walk from my hotel. It was listed as one of the must try in a food blog I read. The most colourful meal you can experience in Bangkok the article boasted.

Frankly, I just wanted a really good Tom Yum Goong... and you know what.

They have it. YASSS! ✊

And they delivered. *cue obama not bad meme

The broth was everything I'd expect from a great Tom Yum Goong. Aromatic, great body, heat and the right amount of sour, spicy and sweet.

The seafood is fresh, succulent prawns that make a good bite and pairs well with the country's fluffy signature jasmine rice.

It's probably just me - but everything else on the plate despite its colors and varieties simply pales in comparison to the soup dish.

So... in conclusion, if you want a Tom Yum Goong that doesn't disappoint to kickstart your Bangkok trip. The Tom Yum Goong here in itself is worth the price of admission.

It is great that you can combine Steemfest with the DAO workshop on Saturday.

Do you know if any other steemians are going to that workshop?

I hope to welcome as many as possible over the next two days. 🙂

How much food you could eat like, OMG

I can eat as much as you. 😏😏😏

I can't eat much 😫
