Tips to Improve Your Bone Broth

in #tips4 years ago

Hey everyone. If you read one of my previous posts, you will see I did a DIY for making your bone broth. Today I will add some tips to help improve your bone broth or stock. Lets get to it...

If you are beginner to stocks and bone broths, you may want to stick to making chicken bone broth or stock due to the lighter flavor. To really get the benefits of the bone broth, you want to a some high collagen pieces. High collagen pieces include pieces like wings, drumsticks, and the best of them all, the feet. You can also roast the bones before simmering to add a richer flavor.

Celery tips: Celery brings a vegetal taste to the mirepoix (a veggie mix that flavors stocks and sauces). Celery flavor comes through easily, so use less than carrots and leeks.

Leeks: Leeks have a more mellow flavor than other onion varieties so it makes a nice choice for your second ingredient in your mirepoix.

Carrots: The 3rd part of the mirepoix. Carrots add a hint of sweetness for flavor balance. Less is more, so don't use too many carrots otherwise it can take over the flavor.

Garlic head: Halved head vs sliced cloves adds subtle garlic notes.

Herb Blend: A traditional mix of fresh thyme, parsley, and dried bay leaf add a classic fragrance and refined flavor.

Well there you have it. Hopefully some of these tips help you improve your bone broth or stock. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you soon.
