Tasarım araştırmaları ve kuramı dersi kapsamında ürün tasarımlarını ve ürünlerim kullanıcıyla olan bağlantılarını öğreniyoruz.
Kullanıcı araştırması da bu konunun tam odağında yer almakta. Bir ürünün farklı yaş veya cinsiyette insanlar tarafından nasıl kullanıldığından , oluşan sorunlara kadarki tüm veriler oldukça önemlidir. Özellikle yeniden tasarlama projeleri için kullanılan bir tekniktir. Yani bir ürün seçersiniz ve o ürünün kötü yanlarını gidermeye ve ürünr yeni özellikler eklemeye odaklanırsınız.
Süreç gözlem ile başlar. İnsanların o ürünü nasıl kullandığını gözlemlersiniz ve ilk etapta verileri kendiniz toplarsınız. Daha sonra farklı noktaları yakalayabilmek için röportaj yapmanız gerekecektir. 10-15 kişi ile röportaj yapmak potansiyel bilginin yüzde 80'lik kısmına ulaşmanızı sağlar. Bu şekilde görüşme yapmayı sonlandırmanız zamandan tasarruf sağlar .
Kullanıcı araştırması firmaların pek dikkat etmediği ve önemsemediği bir konudur. Bu yüzden firmalar fazlaca kötü geri dönüş alabilir.
Kullanıcı araştırmasında gözlem ve röportajdan sonra veriler analiz edilir. Önemli olanlar ayırılır ve çözüm yolları bulmaya çalışılır.
