My Self Care Routine While Traveling

Hi Friends!

I’m at the airport and off to Alaska! ✈️ While getting ready to leave today, I started taking note of my travel routine and what I do to stay sane and healthy while traveling.

This will be my first time in Alaska and I can’t wait!! I’ve always heard that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I’m excited to visit during the peak of the summer season. Lots more photos and videos to come! ♥️

My Self Care Routine While Traveling


  • Bring an empty water bottle through security to fill up before getting on the plane. Gotta to stay hydrated! I only made the mistake of forgetting this once. Those tiny cups of water they give you every hour or two just isn’t enough!

  • Take a vitamin C packet to help boost my immune system before being in a crowded space with a bunch of people.

  • Wash and moisturize my face before leaving so my skin feels fresh and hydrated.

  • Plan enough time to go for at least a 20 minute power walk right before leaving for the airport. I like to get the blood flowing and tire my body out a bit before I have to spend hours sitting in a confined space.

  • Bring a small massage ball. This is great to roll out your feet,hands or work out tension in your shoulders while flying.

  • I always buffer my timeline to be plenty early. That way, if lines are long or something unexpected (like bad traffic) comes up. It won’t stress me out. Getting your body into a state of stress and then sitting in a confined space for hours is a bad combo.

  • Find a quiet spot in the airport and do some gentle stretches and yoga poses before getting on the plane.

  • Pack healthy snacks for the plane. Nothing is worse than getting hungry and then having to order something of the airline menu. That food is usually pretty low quality and not very fresh - not to mention expensive!

  • Remember to smile. This may sound silly, but going through airport security and sitting on a plane is not exactly my idea of a good time. Instead of viewing this as a negative experience though, I try to have plenty of books, podcast, or TV shows queued up so I can view the plane ride as a way to catch up and do something enjoyable. My mindset also improves when I remind myself that I’ve got an exciting adventure ahead!

One thing I'd like to add (for the more spiritually open folks anyway), is to make use of the powerful energies of being high up in the sky. Listen to or read a good empowering book, or some decent music, and just be mindful and present. I find it so incredibly therapeutic being up there in the clouds. Can't wait to experience that again. I miss travelling!!

I always take a roll of toilet paper. Wherever I go, be it camping or going on a trip with the car or plane.

I won't go in detail as to why but I'm always thankfull I brought that along when the need arises. 😋

I stil havent' been to the USA :( massage ball is a great idea!
