This morning I definitely was not in a hurry, because it was still raining at sunrise. Rain stopped around 9am. So we slowly packed ourselves up, had a good breakfast, and started late for next kilometers. We were still in the clouds, so we didn't even stop at the lookout called Cruz de Carmen. At one point a small path led into the forest and I decided to explore it. There was a mine that could be entered. After a short survey we sat down in the mine portal and looked into the landscape. It looked like we were in the South American rainforest. Eucalyptus trees reached a huge height, estimated at about 50 meters.
Toto ráno jsem rozhodně ze spacáku nepospíchal, protože v době východu slunce stále pršelo. Déšť ustal kolem 9 ráno. Tak jsme se pomalu zabalili, v klidu posnídali a dost pozdě vyrazili vstříc dalším kilometrům. Stále jsme byli v mracích a tak jsme se ani nezastavili na vyhlídce s názvem Cruz de Carmen. V jednom místě vedla do lesa malá cesta a já jsem se jí rozhodl prozkoumat. Byl zde důl do kterého se dalo vlézt. Po krátkém průzkumu jsme si sedli do portálu dolu a koukali do krajiny. Vypadalo to zde jak kdybychom byli v jihoamerickém deštném pralese. Eukaliptové stromy dosahovali obrovské výšky, odhadem kolem 50 metrů.
After another few kilometers of descent, the forest disappeared and we found ourselves in a deep valley that led to the sea. On the way we planned to turn to the green trail that led to the town of Tegueste. But in some mysterious way, we managed to cross the crossroad. Unfortunately, we found out about 100 meters lower. It was our first getting lost.
Po dalších pár kilometrech klesání les zmizel a mi jsme se objevili v hlubokém údolí, které vedlo až k moři. Cestou jsme měli v plánu odbočit na zelenou stezku , která vedla do města Tegueste. Ale nějakým záhadným způsobem se nám podařilo odbočku přejít. Bohužel jsme to zjistili až asi o 100 výškových metrů níže. Bylo to naše první ztracení se.
We didn't want to go back at all, so we chose an alternative plan. Go down to Bajamar and from there take a bus to Tamarco to El Socorro stop, where the green connects and continues further south. With this step, we may have saved a few kilometers over one hill. In Las Toscas, we refilled water from a local well and continued to El Infierno.
Vůbec se nám nechtělo jít zase zpět a tak jsme zvolili alternativní plán. Dojít dolu do Bajamar a odtamtud jet autobusem do Tamarco na zastávku El Socorro, kde se zelená napojovala a pokračovala dále na jih. Tímto krokem jsme si možná ušetřili pár kilometrů přes jeden kopec. V Las Toscas jsme z místní studny doplnili vodu a pokračovali do El Infierno.
In El Infierno came true hell. There was a small restaurant full of locals. A colleague got a taste for beer, so we went inside. They had no beer, but they had wine. We ordered one decanter and drank when a waiter came to us and asked if we would like to eat something. He didn't speak English, and so the deal was quite hard. I ordered for both chicken breasts with potatoes, which was sure. The waiter started to speak Spanish and my colleague confirmed it to him. After a while he asks me if he ordered some crap. I didn't know what he'd confirmed. We just hoped they weren't some sea creatures. In a moment the waiter brought two portions of cuttlefish. I have an allergy to these things so I couldn't eat. A colleague doesn't have to eat them either, but he had two servings. So he definitely had to.
V El Infierno nastalo pravé peklo. Byla zde malá restaurace plná místních obyvatel. Kolega dostal chuť na pivo a tak jsme zašli dovnitř. Pivo neměli, ale měli víno. Objednali jsme si jednu karafu a popíjeli, když k nám přišel číšník a ptal se zda si dáme něco k jídlu. Neuměl anglicky a tak domluva byla dosti krkolomná. Já jsem objednal pro oba kuřecí prsa s bramborem, což byla jistota. Číšník začal cosi mluvit španělsky a můj kolega mu to potvrdil. Po chvíli se mě ptá zda si neobjednal nějakou blbost. Já netušil co mu potvrdil. Jen jsme doufali, že to nejsou nějaké mořské potvory. Za chvíli číšník přinesl dvě porce sépií. Já mám na tyto věci alergii a tak jsem nemohl jíst. A kolega je taky nemusí jíst, ale měl dvě porce. Takže rozhodně musel.
After this cut he had another meal in the form of chicken breasts, so we ordered another decanter of wine. The wine was perfect and perfectly suited to eating. When we left, we bought two more bottles of wine with us. The waiter no longer gave it and poured us some cognac. All this fun cost us about 40 Euro, which was incredibly cheap. We went further on the road. We did great despite the relatively steep hill, until we reached the saddle. The weather looked great, so we did not build a tent and stayed only under a small rock.
Po tomto nářezu ho čekalo další jídlo v podobě kuřecích prsou a tak jsme objednali další karafu vína. Víno bylo perfektní a k jídlu se výborně hodilo. Při odchodu jsme si koupili další dvě lahve vína s sebou. To už číšník nedával a nalil nám ještě nějaký koňak. Celá tato sranda nás vyšla asi na 40 Euro ,což bylo neuvěřitelně levné. Vyrazili jsme dále na cestu. Šlo se nám parádně i přes poměrně prudký kopec, až jsme došli do sedla. Počasí vypadalo parádně a tak jsme ani nestavěli stan a ubytovali se jen pod malou skalkou.
During the fourth day we managed to walk 15.1 km and overcome 1,400 meters elevation. From the total of 19.4 km what the map shows, I have subtracted the bus journey that was between points 5 and 6 shown on the map.
Během čtvrtého dne se nám podařilo ujít 15.1 km a překonat 1400 metrů převýšení. Z celkových 19.4 km co ukazuje mapa jsem odečetl cestu autobusem, která byla mezi body 5 a 6 ukázanými na mapě.
