The Golden Triangle is well-known as a border town tourist destination because it is the boundary area between the three countries: Thailand (Chiang Rai Province), Laos, and Myanmar.

According to Wikipedia, it was once one of the largest opium-producing areas of the world in the past, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Triangle_(Southeast_Asia).

People who lived there in the past used “gold” for the exchange of opium and goods. That’s why the name of the “Golden Triangle” came from.

The Golden Triangle in the part of Thailand is in Chiang Rai province. There are small ports to transport goods to China and Laos.

When standing from the Thai border, you will see the village of Lao in the northeast, whereas there is no village on the border of Myanmar in the west.

The Mekong river that is crossing the area creates beautiful scenery, especially in the morning when the sun rises in the mist and in the evening when the sun near the horizon.

For me, I do really love the colors of the sky and the reflection of the sunlight on the water, as in the first and below photos. Very gorgeous!

Apart from admiring the surrounding nature, if you are Buddhist, you can respect the big magnificent golden Buddha image situated beside the Mekong river.

Various sculptures are also very attractive.

And the huge sign "Golden Triangle" that is on the bank of the Mekong River is the most popular thing that people love to take pictures with.

I think I have learnt about The Golden Triangle while in school decades ago :).
I couldn't visualize well at that time. I never thought that one day in the future I can see how it looks like there here :).
Is the budha statue is made of real gold?

Oh! I'm much surprised that you have learnt about The Golden Triangle" while in school, too.... It's a very long history, right? I was interested in its history since I was in a school as well. 😸

You can experience the place with your own eyes when you visit the North of Thailand next time.... 😍

The buddha statue is not made of real gold. We normally made the buddha statues in golden color. I think it's the significant color of Buddhism.... (but not sure! haha!) 😁

Many thanks for stopping by and sharing your story with me. Wishing you and your warm family a happy day! 🙂

Yes, it was part of the history lesson :). Stay safe too there and have a nice weekend.

Many thanks! Have a wonderful day and take care! ;)

Ah! Haven’t been there yet!

It's worth a visit..... I recommend you to visit there one day! Thanks a lot for stopping by. 🙂
