I truly enjoy traveling with my family as it is an opportunity to spend quality time with my wife and daughter, as well as being able to create beautiful memories that will last forever. It is always important to find time to take a vacation and rest from everyday problems, relax and return to work with renewed energy.

My wife and I have an only daughter, she is our greatest treasure and we spoil her as much as we can, that's why when she asked us for a trip as a gift for her fifteenth birthday we ran to a travel agency to select the destination of our next vacation. I was surprised by this request because I thought she would ask for a birthday party, as in Latin America it is a custom to have extravagant "quinceañera" parties, however, I was very happy that she wanted to share the trip with us.

Two days before her birthday we took a plane to Margarita Island, also known as the Pearl of the Caribbean, to enjoy its beautiful beaches and rich cuisine.

After staying in the hotel we went down to the beach where the hosts organized games, we participated in every single one of them and had a lot of fun. That day we met a very nice Spanish old lady called Sofia, she told us that she had traveled all by herself since her friends had canceled going at the last minute but that she didn't mind being alone because she was an adventurer.

The next day we had lunch with Sofia, we became traveling companions and enjoyed the facilities of the hotel. We told her that my daughter's fifteenth birthday would be the next day and that the trip was her birthday present. She smiled at us and we went to rest.

The next morning we woke my daughter up with a beautiful bouquet wishing her happy birthday and after that we went down to have breakfast. In the distance, we saw Sofía approaching us and as she sat at our table, she hugged my daughter and told us to go with her on a Jeep tour of the island, that would be her birthday present.

I was very surprised by that kind gesture from a person we had just met, because the tickets for the tour were expensive and she was giving them to us. She told us that she did not want to go alone and she insisted so much that we accepted her offer.

The Jeep tour was a wonderful experience, we visited historical sites of the island such as the Castillo Santa Rosa, a place where the Spanish Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi was held hostage until she gave information about the whereabouts of her husband General Juan Bautista Arismendi, who was fighting for Venezuela's independence from Spain. She was pregnant and lost her baby while waiting to be rescued.

We visited the most beautiful beaches of the Island and had a delicious lunch. Then we went to the Laguna de la Restinga National Park where we took a boat ride and were able to admire different mangroves.

At sunset our tour guide took us to the Castillo de San Carlos de Borromeo in Pampatar Bay, there we saw the beautiful sky from the top, it was a scene worthy of being captured in a painting by an artist.

When it was time to go back to the hotel, our guide took us down a road where we could see his favorite landscapes of Margarita, which we enjoyed while the wind caressed our faces. My daughter kept smiling and was impressed by the beautiful scenery, she was very happy and I kept seeing the woman she was becoming, she was growing up and she was no longer my little girl.

Sofia made our trip to the island of Margarita an unforgettable experience, we hope to return to enjoy its beautiful beaches and enjoy the sun under the shade of a coconut tree.
