Manta Ray
We took the plane to Labuan Bajo, the starting point for trips to the Komodo National Park! In total we were there for five days, three of them for diving. As accommodation we chose the Ciao Hostel because of the good reviews and did not regret it. Just the view over the bay is worth it!

The diving tours of Labuan Bajo are always offered as a full-day tour usually with three dives, since you have to drive a while to the dive spots.
We chose Divers Paradise Komodo as a dive operator because they were relatively cheap and we can only say positive things about them.
The Komodo National Park
The first dive was at Siaba Besar. Very nice corals, a few turtles and almost no current.
This is rarely the case in Komodo, mostly the currents are medium to strong, so you should bring some experience!

The second dive was at one of the most famous dive sites in Komodo National Park: Mauan, also known as Manta Island. And the name keeps its promise: About 15 minutes after we jumped into the water came the first mantas. They are luckily very curious and approach you (with correct behavior) to a few centimeters! As soon as you see a manta, the whole group has to get to the bottom and stay calm. Then the mantas come slowly closer and closer and surround the divers - just an amazing experience! We saw eight mantas during this dive.
The third and last dive for this day was at Tatawa Besar. A relatively easy drift dive along beautiful corals with lots of fish, including some black tips and turtles.

Mit dem Flugzeug ging es weiter nach Labuan Bajo, dem Ausgangspunkt für Trips in den Komodo National Park. Insgesamt waren wir fünf Tage dort, drei davon zum Tauchen. Als Unterkunft haben wir uns aufgrund der guten Bewertungen das Ciao Hostel ausgesucht und nicht bereut. Alleine die Aussicht über die Bucht ist der Wahnsinn!

Die Tauchtouren von Labuan Bajo werden immer als Ganztagestour meist mit drei Tauchgängen angeboten, da man schon eine Weile bis zu den Tauchspots fahren muss.
Wir haben als Anbieter Divers Paradise Komodo gewählt da diese relativ günstig waren und können nur positives berichten.
Der Komodo National Park
Der erste Tauchgang war Siaba Besar. Sehr schöne Korallen, ein paar Schildkröten und nahezu keine Strömung. Das ist in Komodo eher selten der Fall, meistens sind die Strömungen mittel bis stark, sodass man schon etwas Erfahrung mitbringen sollte!

Der zweite Tauchgang war an einer der berühmtesten Dive Sites im Komodo National Park: Mauan, auch bekannt als Manta Island. Und der Name hält was er verspricht: Etwa 15 Minuten nachdem wir ins Wasser gesprungen waren kamen die ersten Mantas. Diese sind zum Glück sehr neugierig und nähern sich bei richtigem Verhalten bis auf wenige Zentimeter! Sobald man einen Manta sieht muss die gesamte Gruppe auf den Grund gehen und keine hektischen Bewegungen machen. Dann kommen die Mantas und langsam immer näher und umkreisen die Taucher – einfach der Wahnsinn! Bei diesem Tauchgang haben wir acht Mantas gesehen.
Der dritte und letzte Tauchgang für diesen Tag war Tatawa Besar. Ein relativ leichter Drift Dive entlang wunderschöner Korallen mit vielen Fischen, darunter auch ein paar Black Tips.
