Tree Planting Project - Day 18 supports Ontario

Tree Planting Project

Day 18

45 Trees Planted So Far!

The earth is suffocating from the abusing of deforestation in countries all around the globe. The reason varies, all from large and continuous accidental forest fires during hot summers to global cooperation's wish to gain profitable money to their already large money bags.

I will post one post per day to collect as much post reward as possible to donate for planting trees in various places of the earth using the service of One Tree Planted.

Why I do this?

As the world we live in is going global, we read more and understand more today than at any other time before, I see more and more selfishness. People have a hard time to take in the global perspective, and that what You do every day have an impact on people on the other places of the world. I do this to make a small contribution towards a better, more understanding, and greener world.

I believe in the platform for a greater good, for something that can be used to help others. Each day will have a short summary on the country or project that I support, making the post not only about supporting something, but also educational for you who contribute towards it.

Please help me help others and our planet.

Latest Contribution

Today we plant 2 trees in Ontario, one of the 13 provinces and territories of Canada and is in east-central Canada.

Ontario's climate varies by season and location. Three air sources affect it: cold, dry, arctic air from the north; Pacific polar air crossing in from the western Canadian Prairies/US Northern Plains; and warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. In general, most of Ontario's climate is classified as humid continental.

Given its remarkably large land area, Ontario's forests are incredibly diverse. From the northern lowlands around Hudson Bay, through the Boreal forest, and on to the deciduous forests in the south, Ontario is home to a wide array of unique plant and wildlife. However, many of Ontario's amazing forests are being pressured by natural resource extraction and encroaching agricultural development. On top of this, in April 2019 the Ontario government cut funding for its tree planting program, which intended on planting 50 million trees by 2025.

Reforestation in Ontario will greatly benefit communities, biodiversity, and the environment. Planting trees will restore critical watersheds, rebuild important wildlife habitats, and will ultimately combat climate change and global warming. Most importantly, your donation will help to fill the void left by the Ontario government's termination of the 50 Million Tree program. With your support, conservation organizations who were counting on support from the government will be able to continue planting trees across the province.

To maximize the impact of your donation, our partner will determine the most appropriate species of tree to plant.

Explore on Global Forest Watch

With more than 60% forest coverage, Ontario's forests account for about 17% of Canada's forest coverage. This amounts to about 71 million hectares, an area the size of Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands combined.

Ontario's forests are divided into 4 regional sections: the Hudson Bay Lowlands of the far north, the Boreal Forest of northern Ontario, the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Forest of southern and central Ontario, and the deciduous forest in Southern Ontario bordering the United States.

All of these regions hold their own unique biodiversity, but some of the wildlife that can be found in Ontario forests includes polar bears, woodland caribou, barred owl, black bear, and even flying squirrels!

The Process

Once a posts pay-out is finalized, ~75% of the value will be used to purchase trees through One Tree Planted. I will use WirexAPP to purchase with Cryptocurrency and minimize the loss through fees. The goal is to plant as many trees as possible.

The Result

It's still early in the process of collecting funds, there will be a few until anything is paid out, I'm still going to purchase trees until there are post rewards to use. Thus I will have a negative result for the moment.
