EcoDesigns Weekly Meeting Report
Meeting started at10:05AM with all trainers and 8 trainees present and Mr. Ibrahim Nyambi, a Baha’i from the Regional Baha’i center who was invited to educate the friends on the importance, purpose and strategy of holding weekly Devotional meetings at ecoDesigns. The word word of welcome from Mr. Green was followed by a presentation from Mr. Ibrahim about the Baha’i Faith, it’s programs and the Devotional meeting. This was followed by a questions and then prayers.
Then a review and deliberation of last meeting’s resolutions with the team resolving as follows;
- hold weekly devotional meetings every Friday at 10:00am which will be followed by a a brief (45mins) weekly meeting
- Improve hygiene and sanitation within and around the entire workshop
- Create partnerships with orphanages wherein we will collect and donate clothes and shoes to the orphans as well as sew and donate to the orphans beautiful textile upcycled garments
- Organize a graduation ceremony for @Sandrine Tita and @Confidence Wandum in December 2020.
- Improve our textile upcycling efforts
- Submit individual daily reports via The Greens WhatsApp group.
- Organize a training in soap and powdered detergents production on the 23rd of October 2020 at ecoDesigns
- Effectively use the WhatsApp group for communication
- Increase the number of trainee sewing machines as well as repair damaged sewing machines.
- Make enquiries on the cost of installing solar at the workshop as a result of the frequent power failures in the city. Power failure frequency is daily for several hours.
- Complete the work for the ecoDesigns shop and open the shop in November 2020.
- Support trainees in the acquisition of their personal machines wherein they can pay 70% in installments and Rhe Greens pays 30%. We however wish that our Sewing machines support program with @Robert Morris is successful so that we can give our trainees a machine for free upon graduation for them to start their own social enterprise.
- Promote textile creativity and research at ecoDesigns
To facilitate the implementation of the above resolutions, the following items were identified to be purchased ASAP;
- Buckets, rags, brooms 🧹 , brushes and disinfectants for hygiene and sanitation.
- Materials for the soap and powder detergents production training to hold next week.
- Two sewing machines be purchased before November to facilitate the training program.
The meeting ended at 11:20AM with the 03 new trainees (@Sendreta Kabe , @Blessing Banboye and Rose ) pledging to organize their welcome parties popularly known as Makara party on Wednesday.
