Todays, Trip To Sherwood Pines Notts UK.

in #trip4 years ago

Guys, Today was the first time I have ever visited Sherwood pines and I can tell you this, it won't be my last.

It was bloody fantastic and so much fun, if you ever get the chance to visit please do, to read why continue down the post.

Now before I continue I have had to edit some of the pictures to take my children's faces from them, my wife doesn't like the idea of them been posted to the net. and I also want to be able to sleep in my bed so I respect her wishes.

Last week my bestie messaged me to say he had some time off work and if we would like to join him and his family to Sherwood pines.

We have not been before, but decided to go as we like to try new places, they told us that there was lots to do, and they were not wrong.

Just the drive there is amazing as you enter a place full of the largest trees I have ever seen, and what makes it even better was the chap in the photo above. he is the Gruffalo.

The Gruffalo was the selling point of this trip for us, my middle child has always love reading the Gruffalo books.

The whole place is set out for kids, it is a good walk around but there are areas with different play bits for them.

Sitting in this seat made me feel like I was in Game of thrones :D

The trees are so tall, and it is so peaceful I would like a log cabin there to live, it is so wild yet so much fun.

we got to an area for a picnic that was the best place we have ever had a picnic, we found loads of animals while there.

I thought that I would get a princess when kissing the toad, but I ended up going home with who I went with. :D

We tried to play hide and seal, but me and my mate were to fat to hide from the kids, and the camera.

The cafe food was good but expensive, we enjoyed it but next time we will be taking a packed lunch as it cost for 4 of us to eat £35.

All-day parking is £6 on top of that, and you have to pay before you leave, if you don't you will get a bill in the post, and it is quite a lot more.

Leaving the place as hard as it was queuing for an hour, but other than these few things I have nothing to complain about.

All the families who were there all seemed happy people and it is a place that I would visit every week if I could.

hope you enjoyed my trip with pictures as much as I did.

until next time

stay safe.

spent a lot of time in Notts and never been there. Looks really nice. Love the Game of Thrones style chairs 😀

Check the website out bud, it was ace, I think I would rather go there than the seaside to be honest, far more to do and everyone was so friendly.

This looks like a grand place to spend some time, and have fun. But bugger me, that statue of what I can only think as a chocolate monster gone evil is going to give me nightmares 😖

LOL, it is from the book Gruffalo, and it is meant to be a children's book, you can find the narrated version on Youtube.com

Haha, so that's what it is, eh? Now that I see him from a drawn perspective, he's not at all terrifying. I'd even call him an adorable monster XD

It's a bedtime story so I would have to think calling him adorable suits, it's a great story been out for a while, there is a couple of books. my kids love it.

Great to know that, mate. I think I'd sleep well as a young lad with the tales of Gruffalo being read to me :-)

"I thought that I would get a princess when kissing the toad, but I ended up going home with who I went with."
I wonder if you wife reads that 😂😂

Is that the Sherwood from Robin Hood?

She's got to learn to read first :D :D :D
Yes it is Sherwood from Robin Hood, Sherwood Forest is about 3 miles away from where we were, it is so overpriced to get in. normally in the UK, you pay to park per car, but they charge £5 per person, so with there been 5 over us in our car and 4 in the other car it would have cost us £45 and we are not paying that it is way over the top to go into the countryside.

Hahaha you are safe then :D

Geez they charge a lot for seeing woods!

Tell me about it, I was told the reason for the price is because they are trying to put the money back into the place by planting more trees and looking after the area. I don't know how it works, but we tend not to go.
It puts a lot of people off at these prices and when some of us have little to no money it makes a big difference whether it is £5 per car or £5 per person.
