The advent of technology alongside utility services provide the foundation of infrastructure needed for any community to prosper and enjoy a high level quality of life and has made life easy for all and sundry. Example of these services include the use of mobile phones, Cable television, electricity operations, gas services, water services and a host of others, all these services requires periodic subscriptions for their benefits to be maximally enjoyed. Subscribing for each of these services are done through their own unique channel e.g. electricity bills have to be paid to the electricity companies payment offices, mobile phones are recharged through the network provider e.t.c. however, paying of utility bills atimes could be a very tedious process. Moving from telecommunication companies for mobile subscription, to water corporation and electricity companies to pay for water and electricity respectively often tends to be a stressful experience. To these end, it is evident that the utility service payment system need a complete overhaul, hence the birth of a platform named TREON
Treon is a platform leveraged on blockchain technology to unify the payment process of utility bill into one, thus the process easier and without stress. Also, the platform serves as an avenue that creates business opportunity for utility service providers
The traditional means of paying for utility bill ranges from the stress of having to remember. Treon aims to solve these problems by using a single downloadable application which is connected to the treon bill settlement blockchain on which utility companies also have their presence. The wallet organizes and manages payment for all utility services, making bill payment a seamless and hitch-free experience that could be done just with a click from anywhere in the world.
COMPONENT OF TREON
TREON PAYMENT PROTOCOL (TPP): This feature creates an on-chain and off-chain component which prevents consumers from being cut off service after the expiration of their utility service subscription. The TPP allows consumers receive bills to settle their outstanding payments without being cut off and allows them to pay an upfront for services to be utilized. The on-chain component consist of treon token contract, treon token (TXO)and treon account while the off-chain elements include treon app& dashboard, treon wallet, TPP development kit (TPPSDK) and treon digital platform
TREON APP AND WALLET: The treon platform operates via a user-friendly app which downloadable on app store. The app interface connects users with their respective utility provider and possesses a dashboard where users can view details of billing from the providers. One distinct feature of the app is that it gives notifications such as bill due dates, when consumption of a particular utility service is approaching threshold, when usage of a particular is too high, low balance etc. These notifications are usually not present on traditional utility payment services. Within the app is a wallet which stores users’ private keys as it is the means by which users conduct transaction on the treon platform. It also store the treon token (TXO) and it allows for transfer of token TXO and other cryptocurrencies.
TOKEN
As mentioned earlier, token used on the platform is known as treon token (TXO). It is based on the ethereum blockchain; ERC20 smart contract. TXO are the functioning part of the treon ecosystem. The tokens will be used through the app and wallet for the following purposes:
• Mobile and landline recharge/top-up
• Internet subscription
• Electricity bill payment
• Water usage payment
