DO THE HARD STUFF FIRST | LIFE IN A DAY

It's the 25th of July and today is going to be snap shot around the world to create a film of a Life In A Day film for 2020. I'm vlogging my days anyway on a separate project, so I may decide to do a little edit of the day and send that off to see if it gets selected for the film. I doubt it, but you never know.

More important is what I spent most of yesterday doing. My financial investments have started to spiral out of control, so I decided to rein things in a little bit. The mistake I made last year was leaving the tax calculations to the last minute, which made for a very unpleasant time. This time, I've decided to have everything tracked and well documented.

I created a gigantic spreadsheet of absolutely every penny I've spent this tax year, where the penny came from, and what happened to it after it left my hands. As such, I am already ready for the tax calculation when the time comes. Of course I have to keep it updated as the year progresses, but that's as easy as filling in columns on a spreadsheet.

Another fun and grown up thing I did was terminating all my direct debits and moving all my standing orders to a non-traditional bank. It's all part of my move away from the big conglomerates.

Silver lining

In the process, I realised that I am not as down as I thought I was, investment-wise. The Coronavirus pandemic caused a massive crash in the markets, leading a lot of investments into the gutter. I was under the impression that I was way farther down than I actually am. It turns out I'm only a little bit down, and a little pump in the market will wipe out the losses. That's provided I sell, of course. HODLing until the good times come will likely see some epic gains. We all live in hope eh?

Peace & Love,

Adé

Good for you for doing the tough stuff first. It's like that book "Eat The Frog" by Brian Tracy - do the tough task first & then move on to the rest. Then, no matter what, you know you got the stuff you despise already completed lol.

I am the same as you when it comes to budgeting. Sometimes, in my mind, I feel like my money is going away & that I am in bad shape. Then, I sit down and just crunch the numbers. Usually, 9 times out of 10, I am in much better shape than I thought or I can fix anything that seemed negative. When it's all in your mind, it is usually a lot worse. lol

Great video, Ade. I also wish you great luck with your project as well :) 💙

Thank you :)
I guess it could be much worse and be the other way round - thinking we're ok, and finding out that we're actually in trouble haha.

Have a nice day 🙏
