Hey there! It's @ddrfr33k and @chiren, hoping you lot had a fantastic holiday. DDR has been taking a break from streaming, and chiren is pushing his luck in Texas Hold 'Em. That's not to say we haven't been busy! We've got some updates!
First things first, we want to address something important. We know that you guys want to buy Gems without spending Hive. We hit a snag with Paypal, working on a fix. We think we should have it up and going soon, they've been horribly slow in responding. As soon as we know more, you will know more. Make sure you join our discord if you haven't yet, that's the spot where updates come out the fastest. If we can't get this to work, we have contingencies in place. We will make this work, one way or another!
Alright, now that that's out of the way, let's dive into the main meat of this post!
One thing that DDR has stressed for a while now is the community aspect of Vimm. We are a community that builds up instead of tears down. But we noticed that we're really not recognizing the community builders who make us, well, us! The people that take the time to reach out to new streamers, spread upvotes, and share the love? They're getting the cold shoulder! So of course DDR set out to fix this! You've heard him talking about this all over the place, from his streams to @crimsonclad's epic CyberBuzz Radio interview to everyone who will put up with him rambling about it. You've heard this is coming, and now we're ready to announce it!
Starting on January 1st, we will be gamifying our leaderboard with a pretty massive overhaul. One of the biggest additions is the inclusion of a builder score, which is a new way to earn standing. This is done through a few methods:
- Upvote another streamer (Hive wallet required)
- Chat in another streamer's channel (this will be on cooldown to prevent spam)
- Tip another streamer with Gems
- Subscribe to another streamer
As we continue to add new features, this list may change. You might see new ways added to the list. As always, this is a work in progress and we will likely tweak these numbers as we go. Balance is a difficult thing to achieve, and we may need to rein in some actions compared to others. If we make tweaks, we'll be sure to let you guys know about it.
With this addition of a builder score comes a new feature: leaderboard seasons! Every 3 months, we will level the playing field at each tier. The idea behind this being that we want everyone to have a chance at growing on the platform. Our intent is to gamify the process, and hand out some sweet rewards along the way! If you can reach the Top 5 spot, we're going to give you a free Tier 3 subscription for 1 month. There will be prizes for Platinum and Gold tier, we just need to figure out what they will be. But when the new season launches this week, be ready! We're looking forward to seeing where everyone ends up!
