Hive Votes | Have the recent changes on hive.vote [ex. steemauto] affected the voting?

in #voting4 years ago (edited)

The Hive.Vote service run by @mahdiyari recently have made some changes to the their system.
This was announced on May 16th Important change limited votes per week.

Basically, the default settings were changed to 2 votes per week and per day for each author you support. A lot of the users needed to go and updated their vote settings. If someone is long gone and has left, there votes unchanged for a long time, without updating it they will be affected.

Let’s take a look has this affected the overall votes on the platform.

We will be looking at the numbers of votes and the numbers of account voting as well.

Number of votes

First let’s take a look at the number of votes per day starting from March 21 trough May 24.
Here is the chart.

The Hive blockchain was launched on March 20. We can notice how in the first days the number of votes was quite low, under 50k, then peaking up to just above 150k, and soon after reaching more than 200k votes per day.

I have marked May 16th on the chart above with a yellowish color. We can notice that on that day and the next one, there was almost no change in the number of votes. Two days later there was a slight drop going from 230k to around 200k, and the last day we have increase in the number of votes again.

Overall looks like the change has made some slight impact in the number of votes, but insignificant. Probably everyone updated their voting 😊.

Number of Unique Accounts Voting

The above was the total number of votes. But how many accounts are actualy making them? Is there a change in the number of accounts voting?

Here is the chart.

A similar pattern here as for the overall number of votes. Just above 10k accounts voting. After the hive.vote update on May 16 there is a slight drop in the number of account voting from above 11k to 9.3k and the last day we are seeing increase in the number as well.

The hive.vote updates didn’t had significant impact on the overall voting patterns of hivers. Looks like everyone was fast to react and updated there hive.vote settings. Some fast responding users out there 😊.

On a side note hive.vote or steemauto is completely disabled on Steem now. Will be interesting to check the numbers on votes and voters there. Will get that one soon.

All the best

I guess it shows that people are active when it comes to getting back to passive!

Nice wording :)
Pretty much yes ...

steemSQL is no more :( was hoping to look at today's powerdown info!

Really ... wasnt awere of that.... heh, how we will monitor all the stats going down now :)

I won't be able to and we'll have to leave it to the people who can source directly from the chain :)

Yes there was not a big impact, might be big accounts have changed it really quick.

Not just big, but most of the accounts.

I personally think it's a shame it wasn't turned off altogether here too!

Ha ... something else will appear ... you cant stop this things :)
