An hour before Lockdown

Seasonal transformations are amazing. There are changes in the air. You can sometimes even taste it.

Our lockdown in Melbourne is 8pm.

One hour to lockdown and I venture to the local creek, Kororoit creek.

The feeling is surreal. There are various types of lighting & no lighting. You feel the moisture rising from the creek and the surrounds.

There is a cool freshness as the night envelops the day.

The Bridge in that picture used to be referred to as the, "Catholic School Bridge", as it leads to the Catholic school.

It wasn't always that horizontal bridge. It used to be a steep bridge, that was a stuggle to get up on the other side with your pushie (push bike).

It used to be a challenge to hurl yourself down, to gain enough momentum, so you could get up the other side without having to stop.

The problem was that it was a hazard. It wasn't pedestrian friendly for little old ladies trying to goto church. It also used to flood anytime there was alot of rain.

When the new bridge was built, the council put metal poles at the beginning, and end, to encourage cyclist to dismount and walk across.
However, being young, we saw that as an obstacle challenge.
One Christmas, while wearing my new Sony Walkman, I was talking to my friend behind me, not look where I was going, and impacted the post quite hard. It bent my bicycle frame, and my Sony Walkman got scratched as it fell almost into the creek water.
I was lucky not to be physically injured.

Thank goodness that those poles have been removed these days. Hopefully, it is due to the improved behavour of the local denizens.

I have many memories surrounding the creek.

Thanks for reading & have a good day.
