After being locked up for so long with no walking I finally got to walk through the streets to the vet to pick up antibiotics for the cat. So an opportunity for a #wednesdaywalk I am not sure if #wednesdaywalk is still operational as @tattoodjay announced he was having some time away from posting. So, maybe it is not a Wednesday walk, it's just a walk. I enjoyed the time out anyway.
The photographs are mainly about the new and old styles of buildings and business premises below the flats and houses.
I am originally from the UK where this sort of practice as long been removed except for the odd small shop. Can you imagine petrol, gas cylinders, and other flammable materials below a block of apartments?
First a very empty street, pre-pandemic this road would be full of cars on both sides of the street.
A new apartment block almost finished. Note the lower floors have no windows. These have not been sold. Flats and houses are generally sold shell form. Just the walls with no windows or doors or even any interior. That is all up to the purchaser to do themselves.
I reached the vets and as can be seen the ultra-modern building to the right is almost ready and the vet's house is next door. He lives on the upper floors and the surgery is below partially below ground level.
Over the road from the Vet are some older buildings. These are all built entirely of limestone, often with a business below them in what would be the garage which is typically 100 feet long by around 25 feet. The size varies as buildings occupy the entire plot of land regardless of its shape.
Old style with an under business, the stone often goes dark in places over the years.

A brief view of the back streets of Gozo. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed my brief first escape walk. All of our restrictions are being lifted on Friday. More walks to come.
