Some 700k Cannabis Records In Illinois Are Eligible To Be Expunged

in #weedcash3 years ago

Lawmakers in Illinois decided last year that they were going to approve of cannabis legalization in the region. They wanted to establish their own recreational cannabis market and already that market has sold more than $500 million in product.

High Price Problems for Cannabis Users

You might find that you are going to pay more for cannabis when you are in Illinois than you would if you were getting it in dispensaries from other locations though.

This has caused a problem for some who say that it costs too much to get what they need.

If you are looking for an eighth of an ounce of marijuana then you could be spending between 70 to 80 USD or more. As more growers and competition enter the market though, they are expecting that price to come down to something that's a bit more reasonable for those struggling to afford it right now.

Around the U.S. there are some places where you will pay more than $300 or $400 for an ounce of cannabis. This includes regions like Virginia, North Dakota, and D.C.

Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, have been found to have the cheapest weed on the market.

They have also had their markets established for longer than other regions that just recently decided to embrace cannabis growing and selling. There are many more cannabis growers in places like California, Oregon, and Washington, than in a region like Illinois.

Expunging Cannabis Records Comes Next

Millions of people have been shuffled through the criminal justice system over victimless crimes to do with the drug war. Families have been ruined and communities have been destroyed unjustly over the policing of these victimless crimes.

This might be something like possession or selling etc, which is an activity that doesn't involve harm to anyone else or their property.

Some individuals have spent decades behind bars over just a joint of marijuana.

Slowly, this tyranny has been reversed though, along with the growth and acceptance of legal cannabis in the United States today. We can see them trying to make up for their mistakes, as lawmakers have sought to clean those marijuana convictions up and expunge the records for thousands.

It is estimated that some 700k people or more might be eligible for cannabis offense expungement just in Illinois.

Getting over this criminal record could help thousands of people to change their lives and improve their chances at finding a place to live or get a job that they want. Not only has the state unjustly blown billions of dollars on this corrupt and misguided war on drugs, on policing pot, but they not will go on to spend millions more on cleaning up that mistake and carrying out this effort to expunge those records.

For those who never should have had their rights violated in the first place over a plant, it's about time they see some crumbs of justice even if it is just to clean their record up.

Some states that have medical still arrest you for possession even if you have a medical card. Once the state has decriminalized or "legalized" they are suddenly cool with it im in Michigan cops giving me my pot back is still weird

That will definitely help those who had a mixed history.
