As many have pointed out, this is not a "fcuk up". This was an intential feature and a very handy one at that.
Imagine you run a news-type of service on Steem. Occasionally you'll want to correct and / or modify an article. Now you can.
Or if you write tutorials for specific. When new versions of that software come out, it's helpful to append an edit to your old tutorial instructing future readers that it may be out-dated, and you can link them to the most up-to-date tutorial.
IMO, this is a very useful addition that doesn't really do any harm [ at least, not any new harm that couldn't have been done before ].
