Witness life on a DPOS blockchain is far from peaceful.
With a hostile takeover attempt, a softfork, a massive community fightback against sockpuppets and finally a hardfork, we have had several upheavals in the witnesses ranking.
Last month, in this post, I already gave you an overview of the first wave of changes generated by the announcement of the softfork 0.22.0
Now that the storm has passed, let's take a look at what has happened in the witness ranking for the last two months.

Was there an earthquake?
Oh yes, I think we can really say that. Starting February 23th, we felt the beginnings of the chaos that was coming after the announcement of the softfork. And a few days later, on March 2nd, Bang!
Justing Sun performed his hostile takeover with the help of several exchanges (Binance, Huobi and Poloniex). You can see the community elected witnesses sitting in the top 20 ejected from it and sockpuppets coming from nowhere replacing them.
It will be the start of a two-week showdown between the community and Justin Sun to bring back some of the top 20 legitimate witnesses. It all ends on March 20 with the hardfork and the blockchain split between Steem and Hive.

I leave it to you to analyze and interpret these data. What is certain is that there have been significant changes for some witnesses in the past 2 months.
Majors changes in the top 20 are the come back of @drakos, @steempress, @abit, @followbtcnews and @lukestokes.
@netuoso has made is entrance thanks to the awesome work it did to push the last hardfork.
@emrebeyler, @thecryptodrive, @curie, @timcliff, @smooth.witness and @clayop came out of the top 20, although that doesn't stop some of them from still being active and supportive for the Hive blockchain.
This is in line with the comments made by @timcliff in his last post about the top 20. This one is not as frozen as you might think, which proves that all stakeholders votes are important.
