We have been busy
It has been a while since I have done a witness update for our witness. I normally let @c0ff33a handle all of the updates because he is managing the technical side of everything, so when the main server and the backup get updated, he makes sure to get everything updated right when the update packages are dropped.
We are currently rank 60 on the witness list, something that we are very grateful for and didn't think we would have achieved without the support of the community. Both our main and our backup are running Version 0.22.1, and we have missed a total of 37 blocks since the witness was started. This is due to @c0ff33a's diligence and staying on top of everything with the witness servers.
Behind the Scenes
Aside from the technical stuff that witnesses do, I feel that we need witnesses that play an active role in engaging with the community. This is where I have been very busy lately and spending quite a bit of energy trying to find ways to get the community engaged and rewarded for their quality efforts here on the blockchain.
One of the things that I have been known for on Steemit is my Deranged Photography Contest. I used to run this contest weekly and I would switch the themes each week, but a little over a month ago, I created the @derangedcontests account and made my Deranged Photography Contest daily with a scheduled list of themes so people could participate each day in my contests and be rewarded in different tribe tokens that I have staked to the @derangedcontests account.
I am a moderator in the CreativeCoin tribe. We focus on rewarding creative content with the CCC token.
There is an abundance of creativity here on the Steem blockchain, from artists to musicians to dancers, and they are all sharing their talents with the community. With so many posts being done here on the blockchain every few seconds, it is easy for those posts to "get lost" among the ocean of content. Tribes have been instrumental for curators to discover from some of the newer and "less valued" content creators. They are bringing new life and inspiration to content creators across the blockchain and helping them to find their niche.
@ocd and CreativeCoin have come together for #inktober to reward the artist here on the blockchain that are participating. As one of the judges for this contest, it has been awesome to see the talented artists putting out amazing content each day for this. One of the great things about this contest is that we are encouraging the participants to share their posts on their social media to help bring awareness of the blockchain as well.
Overall, we have been seeing a lot of participation and great entries for the contest and we still have about 21 days left. CreativeCoin is also looking forward to continue our partnership with @ocd for future contests to bring more engagement across the blockchain. We are already working on another one for next month, so stay tuned for that one.
