The day is rapidly approaching and we are also preparing ourselves.
Which day you might ask?
well its the day of hard fork 20, so not something that looks like the picture up here (even though some might disagree)
25th of September 2018.
This is a first in a series of major changes that we will be seeing on the Steem blockchain.
It allows for an easier onboarding process for people that want to join in this amazing Steem experience.
Our servers are getting prepped and my fellow compatriot @sirwries is going through all the tech stuff (instead of actually writing posts) to make sure that there are no issues.
We want to do things right and make sure that there are no mishaps and that all things go according to plan
In order for this hard fork to be accepted the majority of the top 20 witnesses and the backup have to have the new version installed.
So if 17 out of these 21 are on the update then the Steem blockchain will be forked and the new version will be the one that will take the place of the old one.
As the status is right now this means that HF20 will not be accepted since only 14 of the top 20 witnesses have this new version installed. There are also multiple other witnesses that are up to date and that means that until 2 more of the Top 20 witnesses update to the new version we are not moving.
We still have another week to go so I am sure that those will also do this and the future of steem will change and onboarding will be a lot easier and faster. There are more changes that are included and if you want to read up on them you can do so here on the official steemit inc blog.
