For me, weekends are just as important as weekdays, if not more. It’s so easy to get caught up in our busy schedule that we forget one simple thing, we also need time to breathe. Earning money is important, but feeling alive is just as important. Rest, leisure, and quiet moments are not a luxury, they’re part of our existence.
I also believe that the condition of our body is connected to the condition of our mind. If we keep pushing ourselves without pause, it’s not just our energy that suffers, but also our mental health. That’s why I really value those two days off from work. For me, a 2-day break is just enough to recharge, reset, and prepare myself for another week of work.
My ideal weekend is simple: get enough sleep, eat good and healthy food, and do things I can’t usually enjoy during weekdays. It could be watching movies or even silly shows, reading a book, or going outside to feel the morning sunshine. These small things may look ordinary, but they make me feel human again, not just a worker following a routine.
There’s a quote I like that says, “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” — Anne Lamott. I think weekends are our chance to “unplug” so we can function better when Monday comes.
Right now, I’m really enjoying my weekends. They remind me that life is not only about productivity, but also about peace, balance, and taking care of myself, inside and out.
