If it's Monday, it means it's time to review my activity here on Steemit. I started this habit, initially, because content discovery on Steemit as a platform could be seriously improved. But also as a way to keep myself accountable. As I learned from the whitepaper, Steemit will gradually improve the content discovery tools on their platform, which will make these kind of posts redundant in the near future. I'm looking forward to it, to be honest :).
But until then, I will continue to write these reports. Because, like I said, it's a very good accountability tool and also because it could help other people find posts that they missed, because, you know, reasons.
Let's see:
Science
- Scientists Create a Completely New, Never Seen Before Life Form r - I personally fin this to be a revolutionary discovery. Read on if you're curious, because it really is mind boggling.
Satire
- How To Write High Quality Posts on Steemit, Empty the Rewards Pool, Instantly Gain the Support of Collusive Whales and Live Happily Ever After in 57 Easy Steps - I am convinced that the ability of making fun of a lot of things, including myself, saved me a ton of money on Prozac, or psycho-therapy, so far. Take it with a grain of salt, if you're the serious kind of guy, this may upset you. A bit.
Life and Philosophy
- Utopia, Expectations and Avocado Sandwiches - on properly assessing our expectations about avocado sandwiches, and not only.
Book Reviews
It's the first time I post on such a topic, but I'm happy to see it was well received. I plan to make it a weekly habit, so expect at least one book review per week.
- Slow Saturday: Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism, by Chogyam Trungpa - an iconic book about the difference between spiritualism as a "mental spa" and spiritualism as a "mental martial art".
Steemit and Crypto

- Steemit compared with Medium, Quora, StackOverflow, Reddit and Tumblr - this also seemed to attract a lot of interest, it's a market cap and ranking comparison of all the media outlets in the title.
- Save The Date: 15 Sessions Story Telling Crash Course on Steemit, Starting February 1st (and a bit of a bounty) - the proposal for the second 30 days challenge of this year. It got a bit of feedback and will probably amended, but the main idea is outlined there.
- I wonder if I should do this... - asking for more feedback about the next challenge (also, the first post I made by integrating @zentasktic with Steemit).
- Blockchain as a Backend: Pros, Cons and a Use Case - Zentasktic - a comparison between Firebase and Steemit as backends, with a case study using @zentasktic
- Blockchain as a Backend Part Two: Lateral Forking Following Content Types, Agnostic Rewards - part two of the above article, with a bit more details about a potential architecture of a blockchain allowing multiple data types
Again, the most consistent part of my writing last week.
30 Days Writing Challenge
The challenge is almost done so I won't include the links to each and every report, because I see no added value added in this. I already publish a separate report each day. You can just go and check out the latest one, it contains the links to all the previous reports.
