Hey @adammillwardart. Thanks a lot for the feedback and constructive criticism. I shared the idea with a few friends first and they also had reservations about the ability for the homeless to even offer them for a donation. I see it as an obstacle for sure but one that we can hopefully overcome. Perhaps by arming them with the information which would (in theory) prevent them from falling victim to policy enforcers we could provide them with the means to demonstrate that they are not subject to statute laws and this could also be used as an educational tool for said enforcement officers by educating them on the job they do which their employers should be more responsible in doing.
I really like the idea of steemit based ads from entepeneurs to fund things a little further. That's a really interesting idea that I will definitely look into further. Thanks sso much for suggesting it mate and for taking the time to read the post and comment. If you have any more ideas I'd love to hear them.
Have a great day buddy! :)
Perhaps a better way to distribute them is to give them freely in public areas, like have a stand with a big "FREE" sign at bus terminals or subway stations etc..., or maybe in select bars and cafe's - that's how Vice started.
I had thought about giving them out to students at colleges and universities, which would be pretty easy for me given that my city is full of them but I wanted to somehow incorporate helping the homeless in some way if possible. I'm definitely open to other avenues of distribution that would be more effective but I don't intend to be a leader and would rather that was decided by everyone who was interested in playing a part in deciding. I intend to do a test run at some stage in the future in my own city and will take charge of that but if it is successful to any degree and shows promise of being worth continuing, I hope others will get more involved and decisions can be taken as a group.
Thanks for another great suggestion Adam. It's much appreciated. :)
I think the students is the way to go. Of course there's exceptions, but homeless people are often mentally ill, addicted, transient etc... I think generating revenue and then using that to help the homeless by buying them food, clothing or somehow setting up shelter or other services might be the better way to go about it.
