What I thought could be a short bit of rain turned into a 24 hour deluge. The storm was spinning around to the south and dragged a bunch of wet with it that just caught us in the morning.
Before it really hit I went out to cover the turkey feeder with a sheet of metal. I know they would eat wet food but it is much better to keep it dry.
I've been keeping my eyes open for a good hook knife to have one me for paragliding. It's a safety measure in case I land in the water or in a tree such that I need to cut the straps of my harness or the lines of my wing. It will deliver today and I will figure out where best to mount it on my harness.
With the rains all day it meant a lot of darts throwing. It felt SUPER nice much of the day as my throws were quite accurate. The feel of the darts was better and I could slightly adjust my grip to change the aim.
Mid day while it continued to dump rain I got a batch of syrup made or the bees.
I filled a half gallon mason jar, poked holes in the lid then set it in the hive. I added a does of Complete Bee which should help give them a nice boost to start with.
I'm gradually getting my triples. Was none for a bunch of throws, then began getting one every few throws, and now I'm starting to get two triples every few throws. Repetition and practice makes the aim better.
We got a slight pause in the rain in the later afternoon before it continued to dump into the evening and overnight. I put Wayne's World 2 on to watch in the early afternoon.
I got the fire going and made sure to have it built big enough to fight the deluge of water.
3 triples, just not all the same, but still 3 triples.
The boys tried their hands at making pumpkin bread and managed to get it done with only a bit of mess. I was surprised there was any batter to go in the oven but while the potatoes baked the bread in.
I got the steaks on to grill as another round of deluge came through.
Beef rib steak and bison sirloin tip steaks.
And as we went to soak it continued the dumping.
The storm had spun around such that it brought everything that went over in the morning right back over us in the evening.
This was the setup for overnight and it has just about moved past as I type this now and we have .9" in the gauge.
It should stop raining within the hour then the rest of the week looks nice and I will be able to fly at least one of the days. This morning I have to get the boys to school, have a chiro appointment, if it dries out enough I will cut grass, decide where the hook knife will mount, get boys from school, make dinner, then we have a flying club meeting tonight.
