Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

It's that day of the week in which I find the most interesting Splinterlands experience I've had over the past week to share! That fits in perfectly with the theme of the weekly Splinterlands Social Media Challenge too!

Just like last week though, the theme for the week will continue to be about Splinterlands 6th anniversary! Yes — Splinterlands is THAT OLD! 🤣 The majority of players probably know Splinterlands during the previous crypto boom of 21' but not it's previous incarnation as Steem Monsters.

That said, while last week was a reminiscing my time spent in Splinterlands, I shall look forward to the future this time round. But first, a quick look at what happened this week in the world of crypto.

This week has seen quite a bit of upward momentum as the softer than expect US CPI data led to increased hopes of an interest rate cut from the Fed. BTC jumped up to $67k as the alt coins rebounded even higher! Even HIVE saw a huge spike at one point of time, although it has since settled down to a lower level. The future looks bright, but we'll never know what lies around the corner. That's crypto for you! 📈🚀

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 130th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. I talk about what has gone on my personal Splinterlands playing experience, my weekly Guild Brawl Reports, and also any Splinterlands ingame news. 🎉🥳🎊

No week goes by in Splinterlands without some news event happening though. And here's my pick of some of the most interesting ones in my opinion. 📰📰📰

🗺️🧳✈️Updates on my Splinterlands Journey🗺️🧳✈️

This week's Social Media Challenge is all about the 6 years Splinterlands has been around. I think this is an amazing accomplishment even if the current situation is still on the more negative side. The past 2 years of the bear market has absolutely crushed the majority of crypto projects out there. Just being still around is an achievement unto itself. While last week was mostly about me talking about my past in Splinterlands, let's take a look at the present and future.

First off, lets look at where SPS aka Splintershards price stands at now. As we know, SPS is the token for the game Splinterlands and it's price is pretty indicative of how popular Splinterlands is at the moment.

As we can see, the current pricing of about $0.012 puts it pretty much around it's all time low levels. This shows that the outlook for the game, at least amongst those in the wider world, is pretty dire at the moment.

I can't tell if the price will improve or get worse in the future. What I do know is that after a long series of missteps, it does seem like the Splinterlands team is finally trying to get things going on track again. Lots of positive changes have been made and I think there is more upside than downside at this point.

For old players still around, I doubt there is much point in exiting at an all time low. And for new players, the positive aspect is that it is cheaper than ever now to get into the game and build a competitive deck. The amount you'll need to spend now is likely to be almost 10 times lesser than if you had attempted to do so just a few years ago! 🤣

Speaking about the future, what is the current state of the game itself?

There has been huge changes in the game and an old player who just came back after a long break might feel quite lost indeed. The gameplay is still basically unchanged (short of new cards and a few new abilities) but it is the rewards system which has been totally reworked.

As of now, we no longer get chests like in the old system but earn GLINT tokens with every win (and more come the end of season) which can be used to purchase items from GWEN'S GLINT SHOP. Even so, this shop has seen several changes since it's introduction a few weeks ago.

At the current moment, you can purchase a few variations of chests (just like how the old system worked) or a guaranteed rarity of card. All these are still random too btw. You can also purchase limited edition titles or Merits, Energy and potions.

I do quite like the current state of the new system (after it underwent a few changes), but I have a feeling that we will see more tweaks in the weeks and months to come. We must bear in mind that this is still pretty new and there is a need for some trial and error to get the best balance.

💭🧐💭Ending Thoughts💭🧐💭

Well, it has been quite a journey for myself and I'm sure the feelings are mostly mutual amongst all the players who are still around. Anyone who has persevered through the bear market are most definitely loyal die hard fans of Splinterlands.

We are all sticking with the game and hoping to see a new and brighter dawn. This probably isn't entirely altruistic as existing players will obviously benefit the most from increasing valuation of their in game assets. It would be a well deserved pay out for keeping the faith though.

Here's to another year of Splinterlands. I'll definitely hope to be checking back on this post come the 7th anniversary next year! 😉
