Este tema fue compuesto en el año 1945 y en 1947 fue popularizada por Daniel Santos, aunque ha sido interpretada por cantantes que le propiciaron fama internacional como fue Omara Portuondo e Ibrahim Ferrer con Buena Vista Social Club, que es la Versión que les interpreto.
