The peace the world couldn't give | Camp Sano, Cateel

After my afternoon stroll in Cateel's town center, we drove south to reach Camp Sano. It is located in the tail-end of the famous creamsand long beach in Cateel. It was my first encounter with the word creamsand as an adjective for a beach; I honestly don't know what to expect.

Just when the sun was about to set, we reached Camp Sano. The fading golden light from the west was enough for me to have a sneak peek of the kind of beauty I was surrounded with. "Ahh, what a way to end my day!" These words and a sigh of relief.

I don't know what's with this trip but I ended up being the only guest everywhere I go; this is the second night in a row that I had the entire place to myself. Aside from the caretaker and another family who maintains everything in Camp Sano, I'm all alone here. "Pick whichever room you want!" I was told by the caretaker who welcomed me that day. I picked the hut closest to the beach.

The night was young but with all the trials I had to surpass to arrive in Camp Sano that day safely, I only had the littlest energy to eat my take-out food, take photos of my abode, and sleep. Most of their rooms and huts are good for at least 2 pax; it was a spacious room for a solo traveler.

At night, Camp Sano is well-lighted. No need to worry if you have to go here all by yourself.

I'm not a morning person; it's not like I'm proud of it but I'd often be late to work. LOL! 🤣 Technically, I'm not late since we have a grace period (that I usually consume). When traveling, the morning person deep within me awakens; I'm always up before the sun rises. It's always like this whenever I'm traveling either with friends or alone.

Have you tried playing calm wave sounds to fall asleep at night? I've tried a couple of times. In Camp Sano, there's no need for Spotify, real and relaxing wave sounds sent me to sleep, and the same awakened me and as if hypnotized, I got up the moment I realized I was on a beach far away from home. I should savor each moment.

I went out of my hut and found myself alone; perhaps it was too early that everyone else was deep in their sleep. I took my time making my way to the beach. An unexplainable joy enveloped my soul when I reached the shore.

A smile cracked on my lips the moment I stepped on the beach. It's nothing like I've seen before. A thick mist hovered just above the huge waves, massive clouds floated like the ones you could imagine heaven is filled with; a glorious and hopeful day was about the start. I watched in awe as the sun slowly creeped out of darkness and brought a familiar warmth that I usually encounter whenever I'm out of town. The sun's soft beam piercing through the clouds and into the frantic water was a precious sight to behold. It was nature's grandest show by far and my heart was filled with bliss to have witnessed all of it.

Serenity was all there was. I paid attention to the gigantic waves crashing one after the other on the cream shore; foam formed from end to end of the beach. What a playful action as early as six. "Nothing else matters, just the here and now!" I reminded myself to be wholly present.

The beach in Camp Sano is nowhere near the world-famous beaches in the Philippines such as Boracay and Panglao where you'll see countless infrastructures (hotels, restaurants, cafes) near the beach. Here the only structure you'll see is the commanding bright yellow lifeguard post that only fits one. I remained seated here for some time and figured that I could spend an entire day on this beach and still not get enough. ⛱

Oh! This wooden swing could also be considered as another structure near the beach. I was careful not to be carried away as this isn't the kind of swing you're thinking of. It's just for picture-taking taking purposes.

So much of what you can see at the beach! This time let me take you around the humble Camp Sano. Manage your expectations as this is neither a five-star hotel nor an inn nor a hostel; just a simple camp with huts and rooms that can safely house family and friends looking for an escape from the noisy and at times, cruel world.

If one thinks about it, there's nothing special about Camp Sano. It's like any other accommodation
I've been to. Rooms and huts are pretty decent, clean, and safe. Some have airconditioning while others are only fanned rooms. It depends on your budget. You can even pitch a tent in the designated areas. If I have a favorite spot in the camp (aside from the beach), it would be the open hut fronting the beach with two swings. This time the swings are real. 🤣 I spent a few minutes relaxing here after eating my big breakfast.

Given that I was the only guest, I had all the attention of the caretaker. He toured me around the camp (although given how small it was, no touring was required). But the caretaker was too kind so he showed me around. 🥰

After that quick tour, I could say that Camp Sano is conducive for big groups especially those who want to bond with friends and family. There were numerous spots to gather. One in the open area near the beach where stargazing and bonfires could be done. There's another bigger and high-ceiling hut near the kitchen (yes, you can bring your supplies and opt to cook for a minimal fee) with a long table that could easily accommodate 12-15 people. More tables and lounge chairs were scattered all over the camp. There's a small pool or perhaps it was a jacuzzi near my hut but it wasn't working during my visit.

Everywhere you look you'll see nothing but green plants of all kinds, towering coconut and palm tress and even banana plants.

Before I left, I went back to the beach for more photos. This time the sun was up, the entire beach beaming with vibrance, the waves bigger than before you could hear them roaring like a hungry lion. The only downside of Camp Sano is that unless you're confident enough with your swimming skills, you should not attempt a swim here. The waves and currents aren't that friendly.
