My weekend engagement, WEEK 179: Weekend wandering.

🚶 Hello Hive family! 🚶

Not all those who wander are lost.

Today this Saturday, I went for a walk in my home town, Valencia.

I thought it would be interesting to show an iconic location in Valencia, which is the city of Arts and Science, by the architect Calatrava.

It is placed in what was once a river, converted to what it is today, a long huge green park. It is one of my favorite things in my city if not the top 1. Lots of people go to the river to do sports, to have a picnic, to walk and enjoy nature, to gather with their friends..

And at one of the ends of this green river called, "Rio Turia", we can find the City of Arts and Science, a group of modern buildings holding different uses, including museums, opera, showrooms, and oceanography.

The building on the left, the one that looks like a Roman helmet maybe, is the one that holds opera shows.

The two buildings that I show you in the photo below right, are the Hemispheric and the museum. The Hemispheric is like an Imax where you can watch 3D movies. I went there years ago.

I placed the next photo to show you the last building at the very end. The only one in a dark blue color, named the Ágora building.

This one, in particular, has had different uses since it was built, like holding the fashion week, Valencia Tennis Open 500, and now an exhibition

On the other side we can see a long line of arches and on top of them an area that holds a small green area and an open club, named Umbracle which is very popular in the summer.

On the street level (because I think I didn't say it before but the river obviously is on a lower level than the city, which makes the park isolated from the city.), we can see these interesting features of the massive installation. I have never known what they are for exactly, just decoration. Are they for ventilation? who knows.

I really loved to talk and show about this popular location in my hometown, thanks to this weekend's #weekend-engagement topic.

I hope you liked my post. Please, say hi in the comments. I want to hear from you all!

My gosh, those are unique and good looking structural design, it is so beautiful like a masterpiece, I love it. I wish we can also see the inside of it (✯ᴗ✯).

Thanks for leaving a comment. I will post photos of the interior soon! :) They are so different.

And beautiful for sure (✯ᴗ✯)

I was in Valencia in november 2019, the last serious trip before corona...
I've been to Barcelona and Madrid in previous years, but Valencia is somehow a city tailored for me.
We were located near the City of Science and Art and visited it every day.
If i could live in Spain Iwould definitely choose your hometown, Valencia.

I am glad you like my city. Yeah I love Bcn and Madrid as well, but Valencia is perfect to live in. Feels like a big city but still everything is easier than in Madrid.

You should move here! 😀 Or let me know next time you visit!

I already knew this place through a post here on Hive, but I never tire of admiring the beauty of this place and its very modern buildings. They are so beautiful, so unique, that they look like space facilities, like the ones we see in the movies. 😅 Santiago Calatrava... great architect and a genius.

It is very impressive. There has been a lot of controversy around a few of Calatrava's projects, but looking at the City of Arts and Science you can admire how monumental it is. Also walking around is very pleasant.

It has been in at least a tv series that I know! Forming part of a futuristic city. The modern version of V.
