Working on the outhouse base

Early this week I ordered the wood to start building the outhouse for the Quinta (farm). We plan to use the dry toilet there while we do not have a septic tank. I got the wood delivered yesterday morning and I planned to start building today. The photo above is the final result after adding some layers of varnish.

I purchased a couple of wood easels to keep the wood over the ground. I will leave it here for three weeks until I come back in June and the last thing I want is to find it full of wholes from insects eating it.

I also carried the generator to the entrance so the smoke was getting outside when I had to use it with the circular saw. It is quite heavy and I built a platform with wheels to move it around, but the house interior is sandy and I cannot use the platform on this type of floor, so I had to carry it with my hands.

Then I build the frame with treated wood.

And started nailing the top boards in the bottom structure. I calculated I would need only one package as I designed the dimensions to be able to use only 6 boards

Used the circular saw to cut the boards to measure and use the remaining parts to end the whole platform. I used the last board and the guide for the circular saw. I finally used the level bar for the final board.

Then I added the final board and cut it to match the structure underneath

And this is the color I was applying as a varnish. The end result is the first photo on the post.

In three weeks I will be working on the walls and the ceiling. I still have to decide if I will use a transparent ceiling or not, I like the idea of getting the light in, but during summer it gets very hot here and it may be better to cover it with a dark ceiling. It all depends on the final location.
