A great score.

Eggy, the Egret, was really on the ball this afternoon.

So Eggy posed for me with his catch.

Now let me tell you, that this guy is a top-class fisherman, but it is for me to get him on camera with such a big frog. I will not show you the entire rigmarole of Eggy swinging around and shaking the poor frog to show the world his catch, and the poor frog losing some limbs in the process. But yeah, it was a great catch for Eggy. We were down at the local Strand golf course as I wanted to see how the Blacksmith Lapwing youngsters were getting on, and I can tell you that they are now all adults.
So, come and watch this guy.

And finally, Eggy swallowed his catch.

As a line break, I want to just show you the beauty of this golf course.

Ivy the Sacred Ibis was dreaming about getting married, and she practiced some nesting tactics here below.

Eggy had swallowed his lunch, and he came strolling past Ivy.

Now what do you think that Ivy said here to Eggy?
My own interpretation is: Hi Eggy, your place or mine?
029.JPG

Filled with pride, Eggy didn't even give her the time of day and he strolled right past her.
033.JPG

Eggy knew that Ivy wanted to score, but he did all the hard work while she was relaxing, so filled with pride Eggy ignored her. Shame, I wonder how Ivy felt. Maybe, she would get up some enthusiasm to go and catch her own frog, to show Eggy that he is not the only frog catcher in the bird world. Similar to us as the human race, isn't it? How many of us look down on others with our pride? That is the lesson that nature taught me here.
Such is life.

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

I think Eggy really is full of pride, lol. He wants to impress the girls, but he's probably looking for a different type to become Mrs. Eggy!

Poor little frog. Eggy was full now.

Yep, I agree, but nature works like that, and we simply have to accept it. Eggy was indeed full.

Yes. To balance the ecosystem. Eggs must be full. 😊

It is just that such birds are very particular and discerning and over time they catch their prey the way it has labored to catch.

Oh yes, they are indeed discerning, as they only pair with female egrets. They also have a lot of patience, waiting before they strike their prey.

Yeah you are right.
