When we heard the word fight , what we think is people throwing hurtful words at each other or fists , right? And it's not a really good thing .But there is a fight that I think everyone would love to be part of , and that is a boodle fight. And if you are familiar with my topic, I bet you are reminiscing some memories with your friends or loves ones doing it or maybe, you are planning to host a boodle fight with someone who are close to your heart.
Boodle fight is a Filipino tradition of eating food together, placed on a banana leaf in a table , using our bare hands. And that is the rule of boodle fight, no utensils must be used, only our bare hands but we should make sure that our hands are washed clean before diving into the food.
My cousin played scatter on Gcash. Scatter is a game in G cash that uses real money as a bet. I guess luck side at my cousin that time and his 100 pesos investment grows to 5000 pesos. I'm not trying to promote or convince anyone to gamble , I just want to share the reason why we had boodle fight at that day.
Out of his happiness, he decides to treat us lunch but we must do it in a boodle fight way. Which means he will buy raw foods and we have to cook and grill it for us to eat. We help each other prepare our lunch for that day. Others are getting the banana leaves where we put our food, preparing the table, and setting the grill. This is my other cousin preparing the milk fish and pork belly to be grilled.
One of Filipino values is that we truly value the idea of sharing when it comes to food. This is one of the way to have a strong bonds with our family and friends.
This is how we splayed our food on the banana leaf. As a Filipino, one way we celebrate something is by getting together through the essence of foods. All we have to do is to put our rice on the banana leaf and scatter our grilled food on top of the rice so everyone has a fair share. By using banana leaf as a tool for us to place our food, we don't have to wash many plates or utensils after everyone done eating. We just have to throw the leaves away, after and the leaves will eventually decompose in the long run and become fertilizer in our soil and not harming our surroundings.
This is the fun part of boodle fight,when you have larger companies and you have limited table and you all want to eat together barehanded. And this way of eating together makes sure everyone will go home full and satisfied. When you are one of the people who into boodle fights, don't feel shy about putting food in your mouth or you will go home a bit hungry 🤣. I don't mean you have to eat fast, just feel like your at home eating. But I warn you, if your one of the people include in the boodle fight, please contribute also, like helping prepare the foods and just don't dive in. You will go home with lots of negative feedback on your back if you will not of help.
As usual, before we dive into our food, we took a picture and showed our happy faces.
Everyone is having a great time and so are full after our boodle fight at that day, everyone are satisfied with the food. Thanks to scatter 🤣.
The day after that,my brother tried his luck on the same game and won 3000 pesos. So we celebrate again through a boodle fight. So we helped each other prepare our food that day. But not everyone is lucky at that particular game, why? Because I even gave it a try and my investment ran out, and I regretted it,. I said to myself if I should have bought rice instead my family would be happier.
Unexpectedly, our special friend visited us, which made us more happy. He came from the city and visited us before he went home to his parents. We were surprised because he never announced that he will be returning home. He bought us some bread and coke as a treat and everyone are happy including myself.
When everything is done, we capture pictures on our food and start our boodle fight .
I doubt we won't get fat with all this eating. This is not just for the sake of eating but , it's also a way for us to get more closer. Even though our food is so simple, the important part and thing is that we are full and happy and above all we are together celebrating a simple occasion.

This is the kind of fight that we all want a boodle fight woth the fam. I actually haven't experience this yet, sad to say. We're only four at home and the oldies is no5 fond into something like this, but I'd love to experience it too even once sana, woth friends or whoever. Anyways y'all looks like having a lot of fun here ✨
