The silver gold stackers engagement initiative post week 14 will come to payout later today but as I'm trying to run errands today, I will write this post quickly now so that I can finish the task early. What a bunch of great comments there were and even a few dedicated posts! Thank you all!
What a shame that there the community also bumped on some copy cats who flat out stole a great post! Shame on you! Thankfully, it was clear quite quickly that the community could stand up and resolve the matter themselves. Later it turned out that (at least one) account was already blacklisted for a few years.
I had to catch up on a few comments today because I simply got caught up in life and now some other things need my attention, but I read every comment and post and decided that everyone gets a HSBI share for their engagement this week!
Our rental is having many issues at the moment
I will not put out a new question today because I'm trying to get the task out of the way to focus on the home after we had some issues. We knew that there were several things not that great about this apartment when starting to rent it from November but the other (worse) option was to stay in the old apartment while we now had a reason to leave and get back the deposit. Sadly right now it's been like a domino game of things breaking or issues appearing that need attention rather sooner than later.
Airco unit
It means I'm really not feeling creative at all and all creative things have been paused for a few days until that's all looking better. Recently we found out when turning on the airco unit in the living room (where my boyfriend has the office so it's important to have a working one there) the fuses collapse. First it seemed an incident but then it turned out it wasn't. They luckily replace it this week but I fear that it will not be fixed and more issues (electrical) appear, but let's try to stay positive.
Meanwhile
The screws of the cistern in toilet 1 broke and we had a water ballet in that bathroom, thankfully that was an easy fix but the next day (yesterday) the big bath room flooded and then our downstairs neighbour came to call my boyfriend to show him a leakage. His ceiling wasn't only wet (and he has such a great bathroom, what a shame) but the floor was also covered with a layer of water.. What a night.
Enough about that, time for some goodies..

Yeah mostly shit for the downstairs neighbour though I mean, all the things breaking down in our place are shit and adding up but I would be much more stressed if I'd have the leakage in our bathroom coming from above our place. So let's say it can always be worse..
Hopefully, this time they apply a quicker standard inspecting things and mostly fixing things..

Hey, it's ok, I got some stuff done already and then took a bit of a break for my back. A little break behind the computer and then the kid is home so we'll focus on some homework first..

Home repair and maintenance are a fact of life.
Three years ago the sewage backed up and flooded my Rental suite.
Flood damage Remediation was estimated at $21,000 CAD but what I found that both existing plumbing and electrical are not to code so the combination makes it potentially dangerous to my tenants. I bit the bullet and the total remediation swelled to $61,000. With Insurance covering only the Flood damage. It was some months later we found that a tree root grew into the sewage drain pipe was the original cause of the sewer line blockage. On top of that, I lost $12,000 CAD of rental income.
I had an Emergency reserve fund of $15,000 but held back $5,000 for Emergency Health needs.
It was several months later that my best friend Deb was diagnosed with Cancer.

Oh dear, that sounds like an absolute nightmare for your as well as the tenants. What a waste of all that hard earned money!
I'm sorry that you had to drain those funds while hard times followed in terms of health not long after this maintenance issue.
Knowing what can go wrong if a home is not properly maintained, I will definitely be careful considering to get a second property to rent out once we get to buy one for our own. Many homes have not been properly maintained and I think the covid years only made that worse because people barely kept their heads above water without keeping up with their property's needs.

Man flooding sucks! In 2022 I was outta my place 6 months cause they had to rip up the main waterline at my condo. I had to get a lawyer cause they stopped working for months while I was at a hotel.
It could always be worse so just take it day at a time friend!

Oh my gosh that sounds absolutely horrible! I hope it won't come to any of that because this is summer season picking up and rentals/hotels will become unaffordable very soon now. For us it's ok as long as we can use our second bath room but not if it turns out that water from the washing machine and kitchen cause water damage too at his place. Let's hope this is not happening.
Meanwhile I make sure to tidy up while I still can I expect that they need to open up the whole bathroom and bath honestly, but I'm not a plumber.. Grateful to have a second bathroom.. :)

I apologize for the comment, I am too sincere I know, but what I say is true, ask him and you will see.
We men do not deserve so many considerations, you are what is important, well it is my humble opinion.
I can handle a joke but I wonder if you know how it is to work 60 hours a week in a room where it's smoking hot? I know he knows that because in the other home (before we moved) he sat in a walk-in closet we changed to office (the desk barely fit) it was 120 wide and I think 150 deep, there was no window, and worse was that the home had close to 0 airflow and no airco either. He did that for 14 months. So he doesn't really fit that profile, I know some guys that do though.
That's just an example btw... I can go on forever with examples as he always put me and the little one first..

I live alone but I have a wonderful woman who is always my priority, I like to smile with her, I do NOT like to see her sad, I always try to make her happy.
Than she is one of the lucky ones that also has a good guy on her side. I had my fair share of the not so great ones though, so I'm happy that I finally found the right one lol.
That's a good attitude to always try to make her happy, you are definitely a keeper :)
