¡Hola Chicos!
En estos días, cuando fui al curso de panadería, una de mis compañeras había llegado con una gran bolsa con vegetales y frutas. En su bolsa pude ver que había papitas colombianas, que son unas papas amarillas pequeñitas y de forma redonda.
Tenía muchísimos meses que nos las veía, pues no se consiguen normalmente, solo en fruterías que vengan de los países andinos y algunas veces en supermercados.
El supermercado donde yo las conseguía cerró, así que desde entonces no he podido comprarlas. Me emocioné mucho porque yo las adoro y mi familia también, así que aproveché que estábamos esperando que se horneara nuestra receta del día para ir a comprar unas pocas para el almuerzo.
La frutería quedaba a escasos metros de la escuela, son unas personas que vienen directo del estado Mérida a vender sus productos todas las semanas. Normalmente están jueves y viernes o hasta que se les termine la mercancía.

These days, when I went to the bakery course, one of my classmates had arrived with a big bag with vegetables and fruits. In her bag I could see that there were Colombian potatoes, which are small, round, yellow potatoes.
I had not seen them for many months, as they are not normally available, only in fruit stores that come from the Andean countries and sometimes in supermarkets.
The supermarket where I used to get them closed, so since then I have not been able to buy them. I was very excited because I love them and so does my family, so I took advantage of the fact that we were waiting for our recipe of the day to be baked to go and buy some for lunch.
The fruit store was just a few meters from the school, they are people who come directly from the state of Merida to sell their products every week. They are usually there on Thursdays and Fridays or until they run out of merchandise.
La frutería se encuentra en un pequeño espacio, y con todas las cestas de frutas y verduras se ve súper surtido y además colorido.
Están los trabajadores, acomodando todo, verificando que todo esté en su lugar constantemente y atendiendo a las personas.
Del lado dentro de la entrada esta una pancarta donde están los precios de casi todos los productos que ofrecen y digo casi todos porque busqué las papitas colombianas y no estaban, por lo que me tocó preguntarle a uno de los señores.
The fruit store is located in a small space, and with all the baskets of fruits and vegetables it looks super assorted and colorful.
The workers are there, arranging everything, constantly checking that everything is in its place and attending to people.
On the side inside the entrance there is a banner with the prices of almost all the products they offer, and I say almost all because I looked for Colombian chips and they were not there, so I had to ask one of the gentlemen.
Quedé impactada cuando me dieron el precio, 2$ el kilo. Sé que suelen ser más costosas que las papas comunes pero estaban al doble del costo y yo la verdad no tenía mucho dinero en ese momento.
Para no quedarme con las ganas compré medio kilo y para completar el almuerzo compré otras verduras como calabacín y zanahoria.
I was shocked when they gave me the price, $2 a kilo. I know they are usually more expensive than regular potatoes but they were twice the cost and I really didn't have much money at that time.
So I bought half a kilo and to complete my lunch I bought other vegetables like zucchini and carrots.
Luego de dar un pequeño recorrido me fui directo a la caja para pagar. Pesaron las papas y luego los otros vegetales los sumaron con un costo que hicieron solo con verlos, es decir, no los pesaron 😤.
Entiendo que estas personas pesan muchos vegetales en un día y pueden tener un estimado de cuanto cuesta algo solo con verlo, pero es algo que me molesta mucho porque uno como comprador no tiene esa certeza.
Puede que estén sacando bien sus cuentas, o puede que lo estén haciendo a su favor, la cosa es que me contuve de decirles algo y acepté el monto total, pues a final de cuentas no era mucha mi compra.
Pero en una próxima oportunidad, si llevo más cosas no aceptaré estas cuentas "al ojo".
After a short tour I went straight to the cashier to pay. They weighed the potatoes and then the other vegetables they added them up with a cost they made just by looking at them, that is, they didn't weigh them 😤.
I understand that these people weigh a lot of vegetables in a day and can have an estimate of how much something costs just by looking at it, but it's something that really bothers me because you as a buyer don't have that certainty.
Maybe they are doing their math right, or maybe they are doing it in their favor, the thing is that I restrained myself from saying anything to them and accepted the total amount, because at the end of the day it wasn't much of a purchase.
But next time, if I bring more things, I won't accept these “eyeball” bills.
Junto a la mesa donde se realizan los pagos estaban varias cubetas con un montón de hermosas y coloridas flores.
En esta frutería las venden y es algo muy normal ver a las personas que viven cerca con sus ramos de flores de camino a casa.
Esto tampoco es algo común verlo, pues por lo menos en mi sector no se consiguen flores así.
Es algo bien lindo, hasta a mi me provocó traer flores a casa, pues me parece algo muy bonito poderlas colocar en la mesa para la comida o una ocasión especial.
Lo malo es que no durarán mucho, apenas unas horas.
Por eso es mejor tener la planta y disfrutar de ellas en la naturaleza, aunque por acá de forma silvestre no se consiguen, eso las hace tan especiales. ♥
Next to the table where payments are made were several buckets with lots of beautiful and colorful flowers.
In this greengrocer's shop they sell them and it is quite normal to see people who live nearby with their bouquets of flowers on their way home.
This is not something common to see, at least in my area you can't get flowers like this.
It is something very nice, even I was provoked to bring flowers home, because I think it is very nice to place them on the table for lunch or a special occasion.
The bad thing is that they will not last long, just a few hours.
That's why it's better to have the plant and enjoy them in the wild, although they are not available in the wild here, that's what makes them so special. ♥
Pagué mi pequeña bolsa de vegetales y me fui bien contenta porque logré conseguir las papitas que buscaba. ♥
Sin duda mientras esté participando en el curso, trataré de comprar las veces que pueda estas deliciosas papas.
I paid for my small bag of vegetables and left happy because I managed to get the chips I was looking for. ♥
No doubt as long as I am participating in the course, I will try to buy as many times as I can these delicious potatoes.
