Welcome to the Semperdepot built between 1874-1877. Today it is home to the University of fine arts Vienna.
I am here to support my wife on the first art fair where she sells her handmade polymerclay keychains, artprints and stickers. I just could not stop myself from snapping some pictures on my Sony alpha 7 mark 2. All pictures except the first one are shot on this workhorse of a cam.
The building is called Semperdepot because it was built by the famous architect Gottfried Semper, who built the famous Semper Opera in Dresden, Germany.
The building was used to store and manufacture the huge theatre backdrops of the K und K Hoftheater.
The art fair we are on is the the Fanzineist Vienna Artbook and Zine Fair.
A ton of international artists from all over the world came to present their artbooks and zines. This particular one is from Croatia where the next Hivefest will take place. I still hope to somehow make it there.
The architecture of this building is unique and definitely worth a visit should you ever be in Vienna. It is located about 5 minutes walk from Karlsplatz wich is in the center of the city.

That is an interesting building, much different style of architecture then what I have here in my city. Thanks for sharing.
Yes it is quite unique, but if we think of how they built and had to store huge theatre backdrops and decorations it is actually built for its purpose. I saw a few art students working on their paintings on the upper floors but I did not dare to snap pictures of them. The University is using the space for their students to paint at excellent daylight conditions and their photography lab in the basement which I still have to check out. I hope to somehow get in there.
