Greetings friends, a couple of days ago I visited a pet store and saw a few toys for cats, I have two cats and the truth is I have never bought this type of accessories.
I was looking at them and I realized that I could do something like this to play with my pets.

You sometimes think that making these things can be difficult, but it's not. If you sit down and look for the right materials, everything is easier to do than it seems.
You see, I have chickens and they are constantly dropping feathers around the yard, so I had to go out in the yard to look for some feathers that they tend to leave around and I found a few, not too many but I did find some. The other thing I needed was a plastic balloon stick, those that are usually used at fairs.
Uno a veces piensa que hacer estas cosas puede ser difícil y la verdad no. Si uno se sienta a pensar y busca los materiales correctos, todo resulta más fácil de hacer de lo que parece.
Verán, yo tengo gallinas y ellas constantemente sueltan plumas por el patio, así que tuve que salir al patio a buscar algunas plumas que suelen dejar por allí y encontré unas pocas, no demasiadas pero sí encontré. Lo otro que necesitaba era un palillo plástico de globos, esos que se suelen usar en las ferias.
The idea was to make a little stick with the feathers hanging from one end, as I know that my cats love to play with the feathers that the chickens leave in the yard from time to time.
For this, I cut several pieces of Chinese thread, a fairly strong thread that is often used for crafts or jewelry, these would serve to hold all the feathers to the plastic stick.
La idea era hacer un bastoncito con las plumas colgando de un extremo, pues sé que a mis gatos les encanta jugar con las plumas que de vez en cuando dejan las gallinas en el patio.
Para esto, corté varios trozos de hilo chino, un hilo bastante resistente que se suele utilizar para manualidades o bisutería, estos servirían para sujetar todas las plumas al bastoncito de plástico.

First I used glue to glue the tip of the thread to the thick part of the base of the feather. When the glue dried, I tied three knots around this part of the feather, holding the feather securely with the thread. I repeated the process with all these small feathers.
Primeramente usé pegamento para pegar la punta del hilo en la parte gruesa de la base de la pluma. Cuando secó el pegamento, hice tres nudos alrededor de esta parte de la pluma, quedando bien sujeta la pluma con el hilo. El proceso lo repetí con todas estas plumas pequeñas.

With the larger feathers I did the same process, which is easier because the base of the feather is thicker and better knots can be made. It should be noted that in both cases I used glue in the knots to give it more strength.
Con las plumas más grandes hice el mismo proceso, el cual es mas fácil porque la base de la pluma es mas gruesa y se pueden hacer mejores nudos. Cabe destacar que en los dos casos usé pegamento en los nudos para darle más fuerza.

Each feather was attached with an individual thread, but I made pairs of feathers by joining the threads together with knots and glue. To seal the ends of the cut threads I used a lighter to burn it, this prevents that end of the thread from being damaged.
Cada pluma estaba sujeta con un hilo individual, pero hice pares de plumas uniendo los hilos con nudos y pegamento. Para sellar los extremos de los hilos cortados usé un encendedor para quemarlo, esto evita que ese extremo del hilo se dañe.

As you well know, plastic balloon canes have a bell-shaped holder to hold the balloons. I took this holder and cut off the bell shape, leaving it only as a cylinder that can hold the strings on the cane.
Como bien saben, los bastoncitos de plástico para globos tienen un soporte con forma de campana para sostener los globos. Yo tomé este soporte y le corté esta forma de campana, dejándolo solamente como un cilindro que pueda sostener los hilos en el bastón.

At the tip of the plastic stick I made several cuts, where I wedged each of the threads that hold the feathers. As I told you, I attached each pair of feathers on a single thread, so for each pair of feathers, only one thread will go into the grooves of the plastic stick.
En la punta del bastoncito de plástico hice varios cortes, en donde calcé cada uno de los hilos que sujetan las plumas. Como les dije, uní cada par de plumas en un solo hilo, así que por cada par de plumas, solo un hilo irá calzado en las ranuras del bastoncillo de plástico.

Finally, I added liquid silicone to the cylindrical tip of the swab, from which I had removed the bell-shaped holder. This cylinder is a little wider than the swab, so the swab fits perfectly inside the cylinder. With the silicone, both the thread and the cylinder were well fixed in the swab.
Finalmente agregué silicón líquido en la punta cilíndrica del bastoncillo, a la cual le había quitado el soporte con forma de campana. Este cilindro es un poco más ancho que el bastoncillo, por lo que el bastoncillo calza perfecto dentro del cilindro. Con el silicón, tanto el hilo como el cilindro quedaron bien fijos en el bastoncillo.

Now comes the moment of truth... Is the toy practical? Well, yes, it is. My cats viewed it cautiously when I approached them, but when I started waving the toy around, they just went crazy and started playing with it.
Tchalla (black cat) is more playful than Bucky (white cat), but still they were both very attracted to the toy and played with it a lot.
Ahora viene la hora de la verdad... ¿Es práctico el juguete? Pues la verdad sí. Mis gatos lo vieron con cautela cuando se los acerqué, pero al comenzar a agitar el juguete, simplemente se volvieron locos y comenzaron a jugar con él.
Tchalla (gata negra) es más juguetona que Bucky (gato blanco), pero aún así los dos se sintieron muy atraídos al juguete y jugaron bastante con este.

This is a very creative cat toy. I love it because you took advantage of the feathers your chickens drop and created a toy that helps drain your cats' energy. I loved the gifs, I can see that they really liked this toy.
Yes, they get very stressed when they don't find what to do or who to play with, so with this toy I will have a way to entertain them for a while and do some therapy playing with them too hehehehe.
