The Forgotten Utopia of Northern, Cebu

in Urban Exploration18 days ago (edited)
Hello fellow hivers, still remember me? Well, introducing you to TravelJ once again. I am a soul who keeps wondering and wondering because it makes me feel alive and energized.

Edited on CANVA

In this blog, I will share with you what my eyes saw, as it would make you ask plenty of questions, such as, What happened? and what went wrong? This place can be found in the northern part of Cebu. My other half lives near the place, and I got a chance to explore the place, as you will catch a glimpse when you pass by the so-called lover's lane. I have titled this blog "Forgotten Utopia" for the reason that when I saw the place, it saddened my inner soul. As an aspiring tourism professional who seeks things and studies strategies to improve and innovate the aspects that have connections to promoting and preserving the culture, natural landscapes, and things that can help the country boost its economic growth, I felt lost upon seeing the place for the first time.

This is the aerial view of the resort. As you can see, you will notice and feel the serenity and tranquility of the place. This wide-ranging resort offers a lot of services to its possible guests. The resort is estimated at 1.6 hectares. The resort is a perfect place to unwind, as you will hear the birds chirping and the sound of waves and witness some tropical green plants. It is a two-in-one place where you can take a swim in both the pool and the sea. The resort also offers a variety of fun activities, such as boating, that will take you to the famous Capitancillo of the city.
From 2011 on, I had no idea that there was a place called Nailon. If I can still remember, I'm still at the age of 14 or 13. Hence, ever since I met my other half, who also lives in Bogo and San Remigio, The reason why I came to know this place is because he once invited me to experience their fiesta during my 11th grade. Where I officially meet his family except for his grandma and grandma.
Hivers, I know you are all curious about what happened to this pace. The trust here is that the hurricane happened. The year 2013 was one of the most devastating years of our lives. Typhoon Yolanda hit our beloved sanctuary without mercy. A thousand souls have vanished, and everyone is hopeless. I can say it was one of the darkest times of our lives. Thousands of establishments are affected. Electricity damage and it took years to recover in the darkest time. The Nailon Beach Resort is one of the affected tourism industries. For the reason that it is near the sea, and maybe it would also cost millions to make recovery actions in the place. This place is owned by one of the influential people in the north. So go back to the place; I am going to show you the before and after of the resort.

This building is supposedly the reception part of the resort. Also known as the heart of any tourism establishment."

Whereas guests inquire about everything involved in the resort.
Hence, my photo is only on this side because I was shy to ask permission from the guard to let us in in the front, where we are already permitted to go to the back part of the resort.

Cabins

The roofs of their cabins are made from traditional tropical nipa huts which are from nipa palms or any type of locally plentiful plant that can make you embrace the essence of being in the province, especially when you take a glimpse of the green environment outside.

Swing

The Before & After photo of their swing.

Just by seeing those swings, I can perfectly imagine that moment happening. Children's giggles, couples' moments, and friend bonding happened here.

Pool Area

Before and After photos of their pool

The water in the pool is still there after all those years because the tiles will crack if removed due to the intense heat. Hence, the pool is dangerous because, as you can see, the water is so dirty. Knowing what particles may be in it scares me. The pool is one of the main reasons why people intend to visit the place. Hence, I feel so lost seeing it lifeless.

Other Comparative Photos

This area is perfect for any type of event, like a wedding, as you will have a perfect view of the sea, as well as birthdays; it is like a mini-function hall.

Rest Room of the place

Certain that the place is slowly crawling to its ground to be saved by someone fortunate enough to be called a hero of this resort.

Some structures are still perfectly fine after those years. The resort has many stairs like this that, after a decade, are still in perfect shape. These stairs are made of cement but look like they are made of wood. The landscape of the resort is somehow made out of a carved-out cliff, which is not flat land. The reason you will notice the place is like leveling.

Due to the intense heat and lack of water sources, the plants are slowly dying. And the neighboring houses can also have access here to get some firewood, or mangahoy in my language. Since I saw a pile of firewood on the ground. If you are all wondering about the things in the resort, I did not see anything and I did not dare to get inside because it has been abandoned over a decade, and knowing the foundation of those walls is no longer the same as it was.

There are rumors that the place is available in the market, waiting for the hero to buy it. I hope someone will have an interest and see the potential of the pace as much as I do.

I grabbed the before photos of the resort that were uploaded to the social platforms of the resort.

You're welcome @mariejeijeim. Looking forward to you reaching your new target 😅

This saddens me as a sustainable tourism student. The comparison of the place before and now really has a huge gap. I hope someone will be able to buy the place and renovate it. That place really has a great potential for tourism. 🫶

That is what I felt when I saw the place.

The place, according to your photos, used to be so wonderful. Obviously, it hasn't been taken care of and was forgotten. I do hope this can be reopened and brought back to how it used to be.

I think the owner really give up the potential of the place since it was hit by the typhoon over a decade. I just hope someone with recourses gets interest in buying the place and turning it into a new one.

So sad to hear about the place. @mariejeijeim

I feel the same way po

This resort is a must-visit. If I am nearby, surely I would love to go there to beat the summer heat. I love the serene views as well. Have a nice day!

It's already been abandoned po since 2013.

The beach resort is nice and amazing Ma'am @mariejeijeim but, what happened Ma'am? Why the owner abondoned the resort?

It was hit by typhoon Yolanda last 2013 po @diamondinthesky , the place didn't recover and the management lacks resources for renovation.

Great, but please credit the source for these images, somewhere in your article.
