Splinterlands at 6 - My Story and Expectations

in Splinterlands19 days ago

Hello dearies, I am glad to come your way with this eulogy post about a unique Hive game- Splinterlands.

Celebrating a tech project's anniversary can be a great way to reflect on achievements, acknowledge team efforts, and show appreciation to stakeholders. It is usually an opportunity to highlight milestones, showcase progress, and build a sense of community around the project or strengthen an already existing community. Moreover, it can generate positive publicity and reinforce the project's longevity and success. This is what we at Splinterlands Blockchain game are doing - Celebrating Splinterlands' Sixth Anniversary.

Looking through the historical lens, the Splinterlands game came live in 2018 and that was under the Steem blockchain before the fork in 2020 that birthed Hive. Being a project that prioritizes sustainability, and decentralization and puts community ahead, Splinterlands also forked to Hive, becoming the top-ranking game in terms of the number of active players and transactions, not just on Hive but in the entire web3 game space.

There has been remarkable growth in the Splinterlands world from User interface improvements, logo transformation, innovations, expansion, and improved gameplay with multiple investment opportunities. A lot has been written about the finesse of the Splinterlands game, however, every player has a unique way of engaging the game, hence, a unique story.

Today, there are many players in the Splinterlands ecosystem with different interests. Some are developers, building third-party applications for users like card trading and renting platforms, etc. Other players are investors holding Splinterlands assets, providing liquidity in hive-engine pools, and buying and cultivating Lands.

Some Splinterlands players are artists, who daily express their creativity in artistic paintings and digital creations for the game cards and arenas. Other players are just the game lovers who play the battle, enjoy the fun and perhaps earn rewards for doing so. Of course, we have players who are content creators on Hive who help to market the game by writing about developments and updates, etc.

I personally fall into the last two categories of Splinterlands players. We admire Splinterlands game for the innovation and we love to talk about it via blog posts and also play the game for fun. As an amateur player, every match is an opportunity to learn and improve, honing skills, and uncovering new tactics to outsmart opponents and climb the ranks.

My discovery of Splinterlands happened about Six weeks ago when I was bored being at home doing nothing during the holidays. While scrolling through Hive, I ran into a posting prompt for a favourite game or sports and then, I discovered that I literally do not know how to play games, apart from Ludo board game. A friend talked me into learning Splinterlands. It was all weird at first. Really weird, I mean! After looking up the battles of some players, it was fun to watch those fights. I actually love war movies so, I could relate a bit. next was to start learning about the card features and battlefield.

i got into y first fight and surprisingly got a win. I was so excited that I watched the battle for over 10 times. The ore I watched, the more I understood what it felt like. Played a number of battles and won significantly more than I've lost. Though an amateur player, I'm captivated by the fun and hoping to stay on here longer. The first day I won a splinterlands battle, I discovered that I spent over 3 hours. Now, I play the gam twice weekly.

Winning my first battle was my biggest achievement in the splinterlands game. It meant so much for me and inspired me to go for more. I've started understanding characters and summoner and how they best fit for battles.

In the coming week, I will be renting cards so that I can play and win more battles. Moreover, I will be purchasing my Spellbook to unlock or about the game. I think I will be in Splinterlands in the long term. It fits my gaming crave. I want to unravel more of the fun aspect of the game. I'm aware players can earn money, but I'm not really interested in that aspect until it happens organically.

My advice to new players like me is to focus on enjoying the game and its fun. That would help you learn faster. I've checked that renting cards is more economical than buying and that would be a great option for me.

Here's my entry to the Splinterlands' Social Media Challenge on its 6th Anniversary!
