Hello anime lovers. We continue with more Japanese anime and this time I have a special collection of series of the science fiction genre, a genre that is not very popular or very exploited in the East, but that have some of the works that deserve much praise and that, personally, I highly recommend watching. Among the five anime we will talk about in this top, surely some of them will ring a bell due to the high impact and popularity they have achieved since they were broadcasted last year.
As you may already know, I rank the anime in this top from 1 to 10 and order them, starting with the lowest rating and ending with the highest rating. Remember that what you will read below will be just my personal opinion, so surely some of you will not agree with what I say about some anime. Seguimos con más animaciones japonesas y está vez les tengo una colección especial de series del género de ciencia ficción, un género que no es muy popular ni muy explotado en oriente, pero que poseen algunas de las obras que merecen bastante elogio y que, personalmente, recomiendo mucho ver. Entre los cinco animes que hablaremos en este top, seguramente te sonará alguno debido al alto impacto y popularidad que han conseguido desde que fueron emitidos el año pasado.
Como ya deben de saber, los animes de este top los clasifico del 1 al 10 y los ordeno, empezando por el de menor clasificación y terminando con el de mayor calificación. Recuerden que lo que leerán a continuación será solo mi opinión personal, por lo cual seguramente alguno de ustedes no estará de acuerdo con lo que diga de algún anime. Synduality: Noir
Let's start with an animated adaptation of a Japanese video game called "Synduality" which was produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks and animated by 8-Bits Studios. This is one of those video game adaptations that did very well, achieving moderate popularity both among fans of the franchise and with those who followed the anime during the six months it aired last year. The story and the characters, particularly, are the most attention-grabbing.
In the future, the earth was completely destroyed by a meteor shower that gave birth to a dangerous race of monsters seeking to wipe out humanity. The few survivors took refuge in subway constructions and, with the help of the Drifters, which are hunters that handle a kind of mobile Mechas. However, since recently, humans have been linked with a race of artificial intelligence called Magus that help the Drifters to fight against these monsters.
A post-apocalyptic world, mutant monsters seeking to wipe out humanity and a society that has advanced with technology and has managed to socialize with an Artificial Intelligence. Between the animation, the soundtrack and the sound and special effects, it's a good job. But, what strikes me the most are the characters, as well as the story it tells us, which can be emotional at certain points. However, while it is true that, for me, there are times when it becomes a little slow in terms of development, it also stands out in certain moments, out of the action that one expects from these works.
Personally, I give it a rating of 7/10 as far as the sci-fi/adventure genre is concerned.

Empecemos con una adaptación animada de un videojuego japonés que lleva como nombre “Synduality” y que fue producida por Bandai Namco Filmworks y animada por los estudios 8-Bits. Esta es una de esas adaptaciones de videojuegos que salieron muy bien, consiguiendo una popularidad moderada tanto entre los fanáticos de la franquicia como con los que siguieron el anime durante los seis meses que fue emitida el año pasado. La historia y los personajes, particularmente, son los que más llaman la atención.
En un futuro, la tierra fue completamente destruida por una lluvia de meteoritos que dió nacimiento a una raza peligrosa de monstruos que buscan acabar con la humanidad. Los pocos sobrevivientes se refugiaron en construcciones subterráneas y, con la ayuda de los Drifters, los cuales son cazadores que manejan una especie de Mechas móviles. Sin embargo, desde hace poco, los humanos se han relacionado con una raza de inteligencia artificial llamados Magus que ayudan a los Drifters a combatir contra estos monstruos.
Un mundo post-apocalíptico, monstruos mutantes que buscan acabar con la humanidad y una sociedad que ha avanzado con la tecnología y han logrado socializar con una Inteligencia Artificial. Entre la animación, la banda sonora y los efectos especiales y de sonido, se encuentra un buen trabajo. Pero, lo que más me llama la atención son los personajes, amén de la historia que nos cuenta, la cual puede llegar a ser emotiva en ciertos puntos. Sin embargo, si bien es cierto que, para mí hay momentos en los que se vuelve un poco lento en cuanto a desarrollo, este se destaca también en ciertos momentos, fuera de la acción que uno espera de estas obras.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7/10 en lo que respecta al género de ciencia ficción y aventura.

We continue with another animated adaptation of one of the most popular video games of the science fiction genre of the last decade, "NieR: Automata". This adaptation was produced by the famous studio house A-1 Pictures and was one of the most popular and controversial anime of last year due to its unfortunate delay that led it to finish airing in mid 2023. However, despite this, the anime became a hit with the airing of its first episode, with animation and a level of production and development of such a high standard that it received much praise and positive reviews. A masterpiece that was undeservedly forgotten.
In a very distant future, the earth is plunged into an invasion by aliens who seek to conquer it with their technology. An organization composed of androids sends 2 of its members to help put an end to a long war between the invading robbers and the androids. The androids realize how much the planet has changed since the war began and will eventually realize a very sad reality that they will find hard to admit because of their programming. In addition, they will see how from the technology they face is born a new species very similar to the human being.
Here we get to know another post-apocalyptic world that is much darker than the previous anime. A war between robots and androids, a truth that has to be accepted and a process of evolution that will leave us much to think about. Apart from the excellent animation, the excellent visual and sound effects, the soundtrack and the fanservice it has; this anime tells us a somewhat gloomy story of a distant future that may come to pass. The characters we meet are, in fact, the pioneers of one of the most melancholic experiences we are going to see in an anime of this production level. The quality comes across very well in the battles and many other shots.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 as far as the sci-fi/mystery genre is concerned.

Seguimos con otra adaptación animada de uno de los videojuegos más populares del género de la ciencia ficción de esta última década, “NieR: Automata”. Esta adaptación fue producida por la famosa casa de estudio A-1 Pictures y fue uno de los animes más populares y polémicos del año pasado por su lamentable retraso que la llevó a terminar de emitirse a mediados del 2023. Sin embargo, a pesar de esto, el anime se convirtió en un éxito con la emisión de su primer capítulo, con una animación y un nivel de producción y desarrollo de tan alto nivel que recibió muchos elogios y críticas positivas. Una obra maestra que fue inmerecidamente olvidada.
En un futuro muy lejano, la tierra se encuentra sumida en una invasión por parte de alienígenas que buscan conquistarla con su tecnología. Una organización compuesta por androides envían a 2 de sus miembros para ayudar a darle fin a una larga guerra que hay entre los robos invasores y los androides. Estos se dan cuenta de lo mucho que ha cambiado el planeta desde que empezó la guerra y se darán cuenta al final de una muy triste realidad que les costará admitir debido a su programación. Además, verán cómo de la tecnología a la que se enfrentan nace una nueva especie muy similar a la del ser humano.
Aquí podemos conocer otro mundo post-apocalíptico que es mucho más oscuro que el del anime anterior. Una guerra entre robots y androides, una verdad que se tiene que aceptar y un proceso de evolución que nos dejará mucho en qué pensar. Fuera de la excelente animación, los excelentes efectos visuales y de sonido, la banda sonora y el fanservice que tiene; este anime nos cuenta una historia un tanto lúgubre de un futuro lejano que puede llegar a suceder. Los personajes que conocemos son, de hecho, los pioneros de una de las experiencias más melancólicas que vamos a ver en un anime de este nivel de producción. La calidad se percibe muy bien en las batallas y muchos otros planos.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de ciencia ficción y misterio.

Dr. Stone: New World
Let's talk now about the third season of one of my favorite anime of this sci-fi genre, Dr. Stone. The adventures of our clever onion-head and his team continue, with new worlds and new characters that we will get to know. Also, mystery and suspense will also come together this time as secrets are revealed and we are confronted with a dangerous and terrifying enemy. This is one of those anime that I recommend everyone to watch and catch up with the three seasons it has.
Our genius Senku decides, along with his great team, to travel the sea in search of new survivors and civilizations that came to exist after the 3 thousand years that he was petrified along with all mankind. But, to achieve this he will have to build a ship, one that will take him and several of his team to the wide sea and thus travel around the world. With their incredible intelligence and with the help of everyone else, they will accomplish this tough mission while managing to take a step further towards the technological civilization they so desire to achieve. However, this journey will lead them closer to the answer of the origin of the world petrification.
This anime is amazing, to me, for how very well they manage to keep me hooked on it. For those of you who are aware of the anime and have yet to watch this latest season, I recommend you do so now. Aside from everything mentioned, this anime takes a step beyond science fiction and introduces us towards a plot that gets darker and darker until it reaches a climax at the end that is simply amazing. The way they teach how they do each thing is simply educational and entertaining to watch. Also, the animation is kept in a very good quality, and it doesn't lose that touch of comedy that identifies it very well.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating for the sci-fi/adventure/comedy genre.

Hablemos ahora de la tercera temporada de uno de mis animes favoritos de este género de la ciencia ficción, Dr. Stone. Las aventuras de nuestro inteligente cabeza de cebolla y su equipo continúan, con nuevos mundos y nuevos personajes que iremos a conocer. También, el misterio y el suspenso se juntarán también en esta ocasión al revelarnos secretos y al enfrentarnos con un peligroso y aterrador enemigo. Este es uno de esos animes que recomiendo a todo el mundo que vea y se ponga al día con las tres temporadas que tiene.
Nuestro genio Senku decide, junto con su gran equipo, viajar por el mar en busca de nuevos supervivientes y civilizaciones que llegaron a existir después de los 3 mil años que estuvo petrificado junto con toda la humanidad. Pero, para lograr esto tendrá que construir un barco, uno que los llevará a él y a varios de su equipo al ancho mar y así viajar por todo el mundo. Con su increíble inteligencia y con la ayuda de todos los demás, lograrán esta dura misión mientras consiguen dar un paso más allá hacia la civilización tecnológica que tanto desean alcanzar. Sin embargo, este viaje los llevará más cerca a la respuesta del origen de la petrificación mundial.
Este anime es sorprendente, para mí, por lo muy bien que consiguen mantenerme enganchado en ella. Para los que están al tanto del anime y aún no han visto esta última temporada, les recomiendo que lo hagan ya. Aparte de todo lo mencionado, este anime da un paso más allá de la ciencia ficción y nos introduce hacia una trama que cada vez se torna más y más oscura hasta que al final llega a un clímax que es simplemente sorprendente. La forma en la que enseñan cómo hacen cada cosa es simplemente educativo y entretenido de ver. También, la animación se mantiene en una muy buena calidad, amén de que no se pierde ese toque de comedia que la identifica muy bien.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de ciencia ficción, aventura y comedia.

Tengoku Daimakyou
At this point of the top we have to talk about one of the anime that most impressed me and I loved watching last year. An anime made by Production I.G. that tells us two stories in one, besides showing us one of the darkest and gloomy post-apocalyptic worlds I have known to date. This anime, on the other hand, came to have a great popularity and impact on the culture, besides having been greatly criticized for an episode that was the most controversial of 2023. The level of production, animation and visual and sound effects make it one of my favorites, without a doubt.
As I mentioned, this anime tells two stories. On one side is that of a couple of kids who travel through a post-apocalyptic world plagued by dangerous creatures that eat people. They live as refugees while searching for a place they call "Paradise". On the other hand, it also tells the story of a small group of students and members of a curious school where they live their lives quietly playing while they go to classes and pass physical and intelligence tests every day. Some even show signs of superpowers and extraordinary mutations.
What fascinates me about this anime, without a doubt, is the perfect combination of science fiction, mystery and suspense it possesses. All this and more can be seen in a parallel story that introduces us to a world full of chaos and dominated by a terrifying human-made evil. The consequences of humanity's bad decisions, a friendship that will evolve with every step they take and a group of young people who will experience a myriad of emotions and feelings that will completely change their lives. All this and more is what we are going to see in this anime, which has an excellent animation and very good visual effects, besides having one of my favorite Openings of 2023.
Personally, I give it a rating of 9.5/10 in the genre of science fiction, mystery and suspense.

En este punto del top nos toca hablar de uno de los animes que más me impresionó y me encantó ver el año pasado. Un anime hecho por Production I.G que nos cuenta dos historias en una, amén de mostrarnos uno de los mundos post-apocalípticos más oscuros y tenebrosos que he conocido hasta la fecha. Este anime, por otro lado, llegó a tener una gran popularidad e impacto en la cultura, amén de haber sido enormemente criticada por un episodio que fue el más polémico del 2023. El nivel de producción, animación y efectos visuales y de sonido la hacen una de mis favoritas, sin lugar a dudas.
Como ya mencioné, este anime cuenta dos historias. Por un lado está la de una pareja de chicos que viajan por un mundo post-apocalíptico y sumido por criaturas peligrosas que comen gente. Estos viven refugiados mientras buscan un lugar que llaman “El Paraíso”. Por otro lado, también nos cuenta la historia de un pequeño grupo de estudiantes y miembros de una curiosa escuela donde viven sus vidas tranquilos jugando mientras van a clases y pasan todos los días por pruebas físicas y de inteligencia. Algunos muestran incluso señales de superpoderes y mutaciones extraordinarias.
Lo que me fascina de este anime, sin lugar a dudas, es la perfecta combinación de ciencia ficción, misterio y suspenso que posee. Todo esto y más se puede ver en una historia paralela que nos introduce a un mundo repleto de caos y dominado por un mal aterrador hecho por el mismo ser humano. Las consecuencias de las malas decisiones de la humanidad, una amistad que irá evolucionando a cada paso que van y un grupo de jóvenes que experimentarán un sinfín de emociones y sentimientos que les cambiará por completo la vida. Todo esto y más es lo que vamos a ver en este anime, el cual posee una excelente animación y muy buenos efectos visuales, amén de tener uno de mis Openings favoritos del 2023.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de la ciencia ficción, el misterio y el suspenso.

Let's end this top with the best anime I've seen both in 2023 and in my entire life, without a doubt. And we are talking about the animated adaptation of the work that bears his name, which is part of the "Astro Boy" universe and which became a cult work for both the manga world and popular culture. Animated by Studio M2 and distributed by Netflix, this anime became one of the best of last year, receiving multiple positive reviews and praise from many experts and fans of the franchise. The work is a perfect combination of science fiction, mystery and psychology that introduces us to a futuristic world very close to the real one.
The story begins with Gesicht, a robot and detective, a member of Europol, who is tasked with a multiple murder case: one of a human being and one of a robot. As he searches for who is responsible, the murders continue to happen and in all of them, a clue is left in the form of horns, which alludes to "Pluto", which is the name given to the culprit and has a somewhat obscure meaning. The origin of this series of murderers will lead our detective to return to the past, a past that he wishes he could not remember and that will bring many traumatic moments both for him and for many other robots of his time.
A future where robots and artificial intelligence has advanced so much that they have managed to develop feelings as pure as those of a human being, a war of humans against machines that will give rise to one of the worst threats of the time and a mystery that will bring to light a past so traumatic for a robot. All this and more is what we can see in this anime, which has an impressive and perfectly done animation, with visual and sound effects that are a complete audiovisual delight. Besides, it tells us a series of stories that introduce us to several of the main characters, which we will feel strongly familiar with, even taking into account that they are all robots. The anime is a masterpiece in terms of storytelling, character development, story, animation, visual effects and soundtrack. A perfect choice for those eccentrics who say "anime is for kids". Everyone has to watch it, without exception.
Personally, I give it a well-deserved 10/10 rating for the science fiction, psychology and mystery genre.

La obra es una combinación perfecta de ciencia ficción, misterio y psicología que nos introduce a un mundo futurista muy cercano al real.

Todo esto y más es lo que podemos ver en este anime, el cual posee una animación impresionante y perfectamente hecha, con efectos visuales y de sonido que son un completo deleite audiovisual. Aparte, nos cuenta una serie de historias que nos introduce a varios de los personajes principales, los cuales nos sentiremos fuertemente familiarizados, aún tomando en cuenta que todos son robots. El anime es una obra maestra a nivel de narración como en desarrollo de personajes, historia, animación, efectos visuales y banda sonora. Una opción perfecta para aquellos excéntricos que dicen que “el anime es para niños”. Todo el mundo tiene que verla, sin excepción alguna.
Personalmente, le doy una muy merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género de la ciencia ficción, la psicología y el misterio.

This list was too easy for me to make since last year not many anime of this genre were broadcasted, however, these last two are worth more than many other anime, the truth. A personal and favorite collection that I hope you like and serve as a reference to watch some of these wonderful animated works in your free time. I haven't watched any of these anime, but the ones that caught my attention were Dr. Stone and Tengoku Daimakyou, I'll have to take a look at them to be able to give my own opinion 👀
The genre of science fiction is not very exploited in the east, certainly, sometimes I think it would be nice to exploit it more, but then I think that maybe it becomes repetitive and unexciting as it has happened with other genres and I pass haha still, I hope they keep bringing more of this genre.
I recommend Pluto, too, in case you are interested in the topic of futuristic worlds and robots with some Psychology. And yes, it is not very exploited but it is not necessary either since this way the essence is not lost and the quality of the few works that exist is maintained. As long as I see that they continue to release masterpieces like these, I am happy.

The only thing I've seen here is Dr Stone and the truth is that yes, it's very cool to watch, I like its story a lot.
I really appreciate this top that you do because you put on the map things that I had not heard of. Besides Dr Stone, the other one I've heard of is Pluto, the rest I have no idea. I like sci-fi but it's not one of my favorite genres in anime, although I have no problem watching the odd thing or two out there.

The good thing about this top is that not only are they pure works of the science fiction genre, but they also have some suspense, as is the case with Tengoku Daimakyou, and Psychology, as is the case with Pluto.
