Hello movie lovers. Today I want to talk to you about one of the best movies that very well managed to reinterpret one of the most popular stories of the great Julio Verne that bears the same name. Starring the talented and at that time popular actor Bredan Fraser, this film became a success, as well as one of the first works to work with 3D special effects. Despite its success at the box office, reviews were very mixed from experts and audiences alike. However, despite this, I remember this film very well as one of my favorites of the genre.

Plot
The film tells the story of a researcher and fan of the stories of the famous Julio Verne. His older brother, who instilled in him his love for these stories, takes his son, the nephew of our protagonist, to take care of him during the vacations. He is carrying one of his favorite Verne's books called "Journey to the Center of the Earth". But it carries some notes, as well as codes and quotes from his father, which his brother deciphers and realizes that this place is not fictitious, but real.
After this, both of them decide to go in search of the world they are supposed to find under the earth. But, for this they will need the help of an expedition and mountain expert to get down to a certain place. A girl accompanies them, who is the only expert they manage to hire. Their journey will take them to meet a subway world with incredible creatures and places.

La película cuenta la historia de un investigador y fanático de las historias del famoso Julio Verne. Su hermano mayor, quien le inculcó ese amor por dichas historias le lleva a su hijo, el sobrino de nuestro protagonista, para que lo cuide durante las vacaciones. Este lleva uno de sus libros favoritos de Verne el cual lleva por nombre “Viaje al Centro de la Tierra”. Pero este lleva algunas notas, amén de códigos y citas de su padre, el cual su hermano descifra y se da cuenta de que dicho lugar no es ficticio, sino real.
Después de esto, ambos deciden ir en busca de dicho mundo que supuestamente encontrarán debajo de la tierra. Pero, para esto necesitarán ayuda de un experto en expedición y montañas para conseguir bajar a cierto lugar. Una chica los acompaña, quien es la única experta que consiguen contratar. Su viaje los llevará a conocer un mundo subterráneo con criaturas y lugares increíbles.

As a fan of Brendan Fraser since I was a little kid, among the favorite movies always to watch was this one that from time to time would always play on TV. Like many of his movies back then, he acted very well in this one, playing a role worthy of what was expected, this being a lone investigator in search of an incredible adventure. On the other hand, the story is also very well told, with a simple plot that grabs any Jules Verne fan who sees it.
But, what we can say is that it stands out quite well is the 3D special effects, bringing us incredible scenes, dinosaurs and spectacular worlds. These, despite being almost 20 years old, look pretty good, even better than the special effects of many movies today. The characters, for their part, are also well developed, with a relationship that at first glance can be very typical (the protagonist falling in love with the girl and vice versa) but with a background that can become both sad and motivating.
Finally, I love the cinematography, photography and soundtrack that this movie has. Unlike the sequel that was released years later starring Dwayne Johnson, in this first film we can enjoy a real adventure, with incredible scenes, moments where emotions explode and places that are a marvel, a complete cinematic masterpiece. Also, the way of directing the plot, as well as the approach given to discover such a spectacular world makes it a much better work than its successor.

Como fanático de Brendan Fraser desde que era pequeño, entre las películas preferidas siempre por ver estaba esta que de vez en cuando siempre pasaba en la televisión. Al igual que muchas de sus películas de aquel entonces, en esta actuó muy bien, interpretando un papel digno de lo que se esperaba, siendo este un investigador solitario en busca de una increíble aventura. Por otro lado, la historia también está muy bien contada, con una trama sencilla que atrapa a cualquier fanático de Julio Verne que la vea.
Pero, en lo que sí se puede decir que se destaca bastante bien es en los efectos especiales en 3D, trayéndonos escenas increíbles, dinosaurios y mundos espectaculares. Estos, a pesar de ser de hace casi 20 años, se ven bastante bien, incluso mejores que los efectos especiales de muchas películas de la actualidad. Los personajes, por su parte, también están bien desarrollados, con una relación que a simple vista puede ser muy típica (el protagonista enamorándose de la chica y viceversa) pero con un trasfondo que puede llegar a ser tanto triste como motivador.
Por último, me encanta la cinemática, fotografía y la banda sonora que tiene esta película. A diferencia de la secuela que sacaron años después protagonizada por Dwayne Johnson, en esta primera película podemos disfrutar de una verdadera aventura, con escenas increíbles, momentos donde las emociones estallan y lugares que son toda una maravilla, una completa obra maestra cinematográfica. También, la forma de dirigir la trama, amén de el enfoque que se le da a descubrir dicho mundo tan espectacular la hace una obra mucho mejor que su sucesora.

This movie marked much of my childhood and has influenced me a lot, as did the original literary work in the same genre of science fiction and popular culture today. My tastes and fascination for works that show fantastic worlds outside the real one is thanks to this movie. A work that, were it not for the fact that as a kid I had nothing else to do but watch TV all the time, would not have impacted me as much as it did at the time.
The lesson I learn from this incredible story is that, to enjoy a great adventure, you don't need to travel the world or reach the center of the earth. You just need to be with people who accept you as you are and share your likes and dreams with the world. And speaking of dreams, another very important lesson he teaches us is the importance of seeking to fulfill your dreams and not abandon them. And as a young man who never had dreams until I was older, I only recently understood this message.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating as far as the sci-fi/adventure genre is concerned.

Esta película marcó gran parte de mi infancia y ha influido mucho en mí, al igual que lo hizo la obra literaria original en el mismo género de la ciencia ficción y la cultura popular actual. Mis gustos y fascinación por obras que muestran mundos fantásticos fuera del real es gracias a esta película. Una obra que, sino fuera porque de pequeño no tenía más nada que hacer que ver la televisión todo el tiempo, no me hubiera impactado tanto como lo hizo en su momento.
La lección que aprendo de esta increíble historia es que, para disfrutar de una gran aventura, no hace falta viajar por el mundo o llegar al centro de la tierra. Solo falta estar con la gente que te acepta tal y como eres y compartas tus gustos y sueños con el mundo. Y hablando de sueños, otra lección muy importante que nos enseña es la importancia de buscar cumplir con tus sueños y no abandonarlos. Y como un joven que nunca tuvo sueños sino hasta después de mayor, este mensaje lo entendí apenas hace poco tiempo.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de la ciencia ficción y la aventura.
