Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you? Deep in spring, you're enjoying a party somewhere or using the weekend to do chores or work in the garden. Or none of the above because you're traveling somewhere or at work?
Either way, we're about to have our 359th #beersaturday, and I will take this opportunity to try two beers that have been chilling in the fridge all day.

Both are German, more precisely Bavarian, but they have very different styles so this tasting will be a pure adventure :)

Opt for the option with lower alcohol content.

Wieninger Kerndl-Kini

It is brewed by Privatbrauerei MC Wieninger, Teisendorf, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.8% ABV, IBU 16.
It's a Rye or Roggenbier-style beer enhanced with added Rye grains rather than wheat.

What do the Master Brewers say?

In Bavaria, a Kini is a king and "the" Kini is Ludwig II. This spike-worthy beer combines five fine grains from Bavaria under its mantle. Despite its down-to-earth nature, it is surrounded by a noble aura. It impresses with its natural authority and a noble hops note puts the crown on its head. It can be enjoyed at private, group or general audiences.

I must admit that I don't remember if I've ever tasted a beer like this.

The beer is cloudy yellow, with a bit of head. It has no particular smell. It goes down the throat smoothly, and I taste a slight malty sweetness, a taste of bread and prunes, and a slight bitterness in the background.
A slight bitterness remains in the aftertaste, but everything else quickly disappears.

The beer is drinkable and still pretty good. I've never seen a beer like this before, so I don't know what I expected. There are no miracles, either. Maybe a more pronounced rye taste, but there's none of that. Wheat beers tend to have a distinct banana flavor, but this one doesn't, either.
It's unavailable here. I got it in a Kalea Beer Box so it won't be in my fridge.

There are no more memes today, but my colleagues surprised me.
Since they know I like to try different beers, and I got a good portion of some, I have to admit, unknown beers from Germany to spice up my future #beersaturdays.

Maisel & Friends West Coast IPA

Brewed by Brauerei Gebrüder Maisel Bayreuth, Bayreuth, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 6.6% ABV, IBU N/A.
It's India Pale Ale (IPA) style beer, hop-forward, bitter, and fruity.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Our modern West Coast IPA shines like the Californian sun, smells of freedom and joie de vivre and tastes tropical and fruity, like life on the west coast of America. It shines golden in the glass and is topped with a stable, creamy head. An intense, fruity bouquet of mango, passion fruit, apricot and orange captivates the connoisseur. There is also a hint of pine and a slight resinous note. The tropical fruit notes can also be found on the tongue and are accompanied by orange and citrus peel.
The bitter note typical of the style rounds off the West Coast IPA perfectly with a wonderful dry finish, so that the desire for the next sip is not long in coming.

The Germans are masters at brewing their styles, and this style is from a different cultural background, so I'm particularly interested in this version of their IPA.

The beer is slightly cloudy orange with an average and creamy head. It smells of tropical fruits. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, and I taste a solid bitterness that dominates the palate, followed by grapefruit, orange, mango, and pine flavors.
The intense hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for some time.

A very drinkable and juicy IPA! Just as it should be. I would drink another one in a second :)
I have no complaints except that it is unavailable here from the same Kalea Beer Box as the previous one. Unfortunately, it won't keep in my fridge :(
