New Journey Unlocked: Cherry Is Now an Accountant

in WorkLife19 days ago

The pressure of being a college graduate has been on my shoulder months ago. It felt like everyone has been watching me and every decision I make that is connected to my career. Some looked at me as a role model, and it has put a lot of pressure in me. As I step forward on my next journey, I am really glad that I always take risks in finding opportunities aligned to my dream career. Recently, there's this big milestone in my life that I did not expect would come.

A new opportunity knocked on my door the moment I went back home. Honestly speaking, I am still in the process of absorbing this moment, but here I am writing something about it. I decided to apply for job position when I got back home from the city, and lucky for me, there was a vacancy in the Zambales Plant of Republic Gas Corporation (REGASCO). And now, I am part of their team. I was hired as a PLANT ACCOUNTANT, which is my dream job title since then. I was officially an accountant last April 2, and it has been a roller-coaster ride to me.

I was a graduate of Business Administration Major in Financial Management, and it fits on my job description. But this one is different since I am now on the field, plus I get to work particularly with finances of the plant and that triggers my adrenaline to learn a lot in this.

If you are curious about my responsibilities as an accountant. Here’s a brief description of my tasks.

1. Bank Reconciliation and Monitoring

As an accountant, I am responsible with monitoring the money that has been deposited or withdrawn on the plant's bank account. It is where payments and advances are happening, and it is a very important task I do daily.

2. Daily Cash Summary Report

Since the company sells LPG products, it is also my duty to make sure that I am capable of doing some reports about the daily cash sales and summary. It is another way to monitor the financial management of the plant.

3. Checking of Expenses from Petty Cash Fund

Everyday, the employees like the General Manager, Drivers, and other Branch Heads are requesting for money from the petty cash fund for their daily expenses. And I am responsible in making sure that they are reporting accurate expense report with official receipts.

4. Cash Counting

Twice a week, I have a task to conduct a cash count. I am requesting the secretaries to bring out the cash sales from the vault and make sure that they are accurate with the report they presented to me about it.

And that's it. I hope I made a clear summary of my duties and responsibilities as a Plant Accountant. I am just enjoying this moment now and spending a lot of my time learning on this field.
