Best Childhood Memory: Rinse and Repeat...

in Indiaunited16 days ago

Not that I was born a pagan but I never loved going to church without biscuits when I was a child, lol... Which makes me wonder if I was actually going to church or going to eat biscuits 😂

The good old childhood days when you literally had nothing to worry about, just repeat the cycles of eating playing and sleeping.... Just a cycle of rinse and repeat, hehehe...

I didn't have the most of lovely experiences because I was a stubborn child growing up who will love to do B rather than doing the A I was told to do so it's understandable that I got series of beating, lol .
However, there's an experience that literally formed me and shaped me to who I am today....

It was a good Sunday morning and as such a day for church... Ideally, I should have seen biscuits in the sitting room on Saturday evening which would have made me prepare happily for church the next day but I didn't... This made me refuse going to church.
Trust my mum on that, she brought out cane and gave me the first dose that morning which made me get to the bathroom very very fast, lol....
After taking my bath, comes another problem.... I hate wearing suits even at this age but that was what my mum loves seeing me on then, she brought It out as the cloth I will wear to church but I refused to wear them....

My mum wasn't there and everything my elder sister did to get me into wearing that cloth didn't work... When my mum finished taking her bath, she came for us to leave together only to see me still searching for clothes...
She gave me the second dose of the cane immediately and I wore the cloth😂

Finally we got to church and I went to the back to sit, unfortunately, the priest that celebrated mass that day said all the children should come to the front because he wants them to pay attention...

Now, I didn't see myself as the children in that range who needs to get to the front but before I could even digest the fact that I'm not a child, the church warden already dragged me to the front....I felt like crying 😂 (that day was just something else)

Here Comes The Turnaround....

When it was time for incensing the Altar and the congregation, because of my proximity, I inhaled the incense used in the thurible and I loved the scent... I never knew what it was that time but I was inquisitive to find out.
Because of that, I joined Altar Servers and that was the turn around.

The Association shaped me to who I am now teaching me how to lead a good life coupled with my parents teachings and i still serve till today, hehehe.... My mum still talks about the radical change till today and always links it up to the fact that it was the day my God called me as He called my namesake in the bible, Samuel.

This wasn't a lovely experience at all but then, it was the experience that shaped me to who I am today and that's what I hold it in high esteem.
