One of the best treasures in life you could ever have are genuine people you consider your friends. Friends are the people unrelated to you by blood but are the ones who treat you like family.

It is very important that you find friends who will always have your back especially in times of trouble, once you find those people you have to keep them and treasure them because it's very rare to find people who are true to you.

Just recently, my college best friend visited me here in the city. Her husband is currently working in one of the biggest hotels here in the city so she decided to meet up with me to reunite. We haven’t seen each other since our college graduation.

From the left side is her husband, my college best friend, ate Flora, me and my partner.

Ate (read us ah-te) is an endearment we use here in the Philippines for women older than us. Ate Flora is a couple years older than me that is why I call her ate.

Ate Flora and I have been so close since our college days that we even stayed on the same dormitory when we were still studying. We have a kind of bond that is strong and unbreakable and she has seen a lot of struggles in my life and she was always there to listen and to help me.

Ate Flora and my son Jacob

Ate Flora is the 4th girl in the photograph and the little boy in the middle is my son, Jacob.

Back when I was still studying college, I constantly brought my son, Jacob with me. Being a single mother is not easy. Managing my time being a mother and being a student, working on my dreams while fulfilling my obligations, but luckily, I have friends who always helped me out and always lent a helping hand.

They helped me out especially during the days when I have to go to school and bring my son with me. I did not felt alone in my journey knowing they are always there for me without any judgments.

Due to our busy schedules, after our college graduation, we barely see each other because we are residing quite far from each other, but luckily, now that her husband is working in Cebu City and now that we are also residing in Cebu City, we got the chance to see each other.

One day is not even enough to catch up about all the things that happened to our lives over the past few years.

I miss my college best friend indeed, I also already consider her my family,
my sister from another mother.

My friends especially ate Flora are the living testimonies of all the challenges I have survived and all the problems I have solved. I am indeed lucky I got friends like her, the genuine ones, I will forever treasure friends like her.

Since she was from the province, and traveled all the way here to Cebu City, she brought us some mangoes which are freshly harvested. I always love that she thought of some gifts to bring for us.

It was such a fun time and we talked about so much and we can’t wait to see each other once again. I invited her for a sleepover once she goes back here in the city.

To true friends! Ciao!☺︎♡
