Esta es la historia de Jack, nacido de un barrio muy humilde de estrato bajo. Jack es hijo de Miguel, un padre que es obrero de construcción y de madre Sara, que es una mujer que trabaja de empleada de servicio domestico para familias de gente rica.

This is the story of Jack, born in a very humble neighborhood of low income Jack, son of a father who is a construction worker named Miguel and mother Sara, who is a woman who works as a maid for wealthy families.

Desde temprana edad Jack ayudaba a sus padres en cuanto fuera para el hogar, a sus 7 años ya trabajaba repartiendo el periódico por las casas de gente que se afiliaba a dicho servicio, otras veces ayudaba al señor de la tienda del barrio, al llevar los mercados de sus clientes en un pequeño y oxidado carrito de supermercado.

ya a la edad de 12 años, Jack empezó a ayudar a su padre en la construcción, al comienzo eran labores simples como ser el encargado de ir a la ferretería a traer algún objeto pequeño, también ayudaba siendo un vigilante, cuidando con un pequeño leño de madera las motocicletas parqueadas de los obreros al frente de la construcción en progreso.

From an early age Jack helped his parents in everything for the home, when he was 7 years old he was already working delivering the newspaper to the houses of people who were affiliated to that service, other times he helped the man of the neighborhood store, carrying the markets of his clients in a small and rusty supermarket cart.

At the age of 12, Jack began to help his father in the construction, at the beginning they were simple tasks like being in charge of going to the hardware store to bring some small object, he also helped being a watchman, guarding with a small wooden log the motorcycles parked by the workers in front of the construction in progress.

En uno de esas labores, el oficio del padre de Jack era demoler una vieja mansión para construir un nuevo edificio, y pues entre las posesiones pesadas de aquella casa en ruinas, estaban grandes fuentes de granito, algunos pilares de mármol y otros inmuebles que los obreros podían disponer y llevárselos si así lo quisieran.

Miguel, el padre, noto que mucho de los objetos requerían demasiada fuerza física que debían incluir una grua de carga para ser llevados, pero entre los muebles de aquella casa en ruinas vio lo que parecía ser un viejo piano destartalado.

In one of those jobs, Jack's father's job was to demolish an old mansion to build a new building, and among the heavy possessions of that ruined house were large granite fountains, some marble pillars and other real estate that the workers could dispose of and carry away if they wanted to.

Miguel, the father, noticed that many of the objects required so much physical strength that they had to include a crane to carry them, but among the furniture of that ruined house he saw what appeared to be a rickety old piano.

Obviamente el Capataz de la obra le dejo quedarse el piano, pues sabia que estaba en pésimas condiciones. Entre Miguel y dos sus amigos trasladaron el piano a un coche y lo llevaron a casa de Miguel.

Su hijo al ver este objeto en la casa le parecía una gran tontearía ya que ninguno en la casa sabe tocar el piano y pues se desilusiono aun mas ,al acercarse a este y verlo inservible.

Al cabo de unas semanas el padre de Jack arreglo las teclas rotas, con sus dotes de carpintero, cambio las cuerdas que le faltaban al piano con algo de esfuerzo de su propio bolsillo, y pues intento hacerlo sonar.

Obviously the foreman of the construction site let him keep the piano, as he knew it was in terrible condition. Miguel and two of his friends moved the piano to a car and took it to Miguel's house.

When his son saw this object in the house, he thought it was a big foolishness since no one in the house knew how to play the piano and he was even more disappointed when he approached the piano and saw it unusable.

After a few weeks Jack's father fixed the broken keys, with his carpenter's tools, changed the missing strings of the piano with some effort from his pocket, and tried to make it play.

Por desgracia un sonido horrible salia de aquellas teclas, pues sus cuerdas no estaban entonadas como es debido.

Miguel sintió que aunque sus intentos de repáralo parecían visualmente exitosos, la verdad no podía vender el piano en ese estado para así ganar algo mas de dinero.

Jack le dio la idea a su padre de pedir la ayuda al pianista de la iglesia del barrio, pues este debe de tener conocimiento de esto.

El padre temeroso de ser juzgado por su falta de ir a la iglesia, y de su fama de bebedor con sus compañeros de construcción, se sintió bastante apenado de poner la cara a este asunto, así que mando a su hijo Jack a la iglesia para que el intercediera en el mandado.

Al llegar a la iglesia Jack espero que la misa terminara, se acerco al pianista y le conto lo del piano que restauro su Padre.

El pianista anteriormente habia visto a Miguel en la tienda adquiriendo cuerdas, asi que tenia una idea de lo ocurrido.

Unfortunately, a horrible sound was coming out of those keys, as the strings were not in tune as they should be.

Miguel felt that although his attempts to repair it seemed visually successful, the truth was that he could not sell the piano in that state in order to earn some more money.

Jack gave his father the idea of asking the pianist at the neighborhood church for help, as he must have knowledge of this.

The father fearful of being judged for his failure to go to church, and his reputation as a drinker with his fellow construction workers, felt quite embarrassed to put his face to this matter, so he sent his son Jack to the church so that he could intercede in the errand.

Arriving at the church, Jack waited for the mass to end, approached the pianist and told him about the piano his father had restored.

The pianist had previously seen Miguel in the store buying strings, so he had an idea of what had happened.

¿Y dime niño que haran con el piano si se los arreglo, aprenderás a tocarlo o lo venderán?- dijo el pianista de la iglesia.

Al notar que las intenciones se verían truncadas por esa pregunta, Jack mintió que era para aprender a tocar el piano.

Esta bien niño, antes de arreglarlo, deberás aprender lo basico del piano de esta iglesia, y solo cuando me demuestres este mes tu progreso, decidiré si lo reparo o no. Dijo el hombre proponiendo un reto.

Jack volvio a casa y le conto a su padre lo sucedido, al comienzo Miguel no quería que Jack perdiera el tiempo con esto, pues el chico es muy necesario en apoyar el hogar con sus trabajos, pero luego comprendió que lo que proponía el pianista era brindarle un futuro al niño, mas allá de los oficios varios en las calles.

Jack practico como es debido, al comienzo las cosas se le dificultaban de una forma colosal, pero al ver al pianista todos los días en las misas, comprendió mas naturalmente el orden de tocar la teclas.

Al cabo del mes, el chico aprendió lo básico, se presento al pianista de la iglesia y toco una leve composicion dominical.

And tell me boy, what will they do with the piano if I fix it, will you learn to play it or will they sell it,” said the church pianist.

Noticing that his intentions would be truncated by that question, Jack lied that it was to learn to play the piano.

Okay kid, before fixing it, you must learn the basics of the piano in this church, and only when you show me this month your progress, I will decide whether to repair it or not. Said the man proposing a challenge.

Jack returned home and told his father what happened, at first Miguel did not want Jack to waste time with this, because the boy is very necessary to support the household with his work, but then he understood that what the pianist proposed was to provide a future for the boy, beyond the various trades in the streets.

Jack practiced as he should, at first things were colossally difficult for him, but when he saw the pianist every day in the masses, he understood more naturally the order of playing the keys.

Within a month, the boy learned the basics, introduced himself to the church pianist and played a light Sunday composition.

Satisfecho con esto, el pianista fue a casa de Miguel y termino de reparar el piano.

Señor Miguel- dijo el pianista, este niño trabajara en la iglesia junto a mi, y no se preocupe no lo hará por caridad, el ganara algo de dinero y conforme progrese el chico, le subiré el salario.

Miguel desconcertado comprendió que el pianista de la iglesia quería era dejar un piano funcional para que el chico practique, así que prometió que no lo vendería.

Al paso de unos años Jack tocaba el piano de forma excepcional, y comprendió que aquel pianista quería enseñarle pues este ya estaba quedándose ciego y con problemas de parkinson en sus manos.

a los 15 años Jack domino el piano, pero por desgracia un día un huracán azoto el pequeño pueblo, algunas casas fueron destruidas junto con la pequeña capilla de madera.

Satisfied with this, the pianist went to Miguel's house and finished repairing the piano.

Mr. Miguel,” said the pianist, ”this boy will work in the church with me, and don't worry, he won't do it for charity, he will earn some money and as the boy progresses, I will raise his salary.

Miguel, disconcerted, understood that the pianist of the church wanted to leave a functional piano for the boy to practice, so he promised that he would not sell it.

After a few years Jack played the piano exceptionally well, and he understood that the pianist wanted to teach him because he was already going blind and had Parkinson's disease in his hands.

At the age of 15 Jack mastered the piano, but unfortunately one day a hurricane hit the small town, some houses were destroyed along with the small wooden chapel.

La gente del pueblo comenzó a tratar de reparar con sus propias manos las edificaciones, al punto de que los noticieros empezaron a llegar para reportar la zona del desastre.

Casas destruidas y gente deprimida llenaban la pantalla de lo que filmo el noticiero, pero fue cuando Jack, entre los escombros de su propio hogar, pudo rescatar su viejo piano, sin pensarlo comenzó a tocar para levantar los ánimos de la gente.

Aquella melodía llegaba a lo profundo de todas las personas, lagrimas de felicidad brotaban de sus ojos, una sensación indescriptible de melancolía y felicidad hacían llorar a todos.El reportero del noticiero incluido, no era capaz de entender porque sus ojos lloraban con esa celestial melodía.

Luego de esto Jack se dio a conocer por la nación, entidades de beneficencia recaudaron dinero de sus espectáculos para así reconstruir el pueblo, Jack viajaba con su viejo piano y cuando por fin sintió que la meta de la recolecta llego a su fin, este dejo de tocar y volvió a casa

Muchas casas disqueras al oir sus melodías y sentir la emoción de llorar, se disputaron ferozmente quien patrocinaría aquel excepcional talento.

Pero Jack rechazaba aquellas propuestas, pues veian en los ojos de aquella gente el afan por explotarlo y ganar dinero a sus espaldas.

The townspeople began to try to repair the buildings with their own hands, to the point that newscasts began to arrive to report on the disaster area.

Destroyed houses and depressed people filled the news screen, but it was when Jack, among the rubble of his own home, was able to rescue his old piano, without thinking he began to play to lift the spirits of the people.

That melody reached the depths of all the people, tears of happiness flowed from his eyes, an indescribable feeling of melancholy and happiness made everyone cry, the reporter of the newscast included, he was not able to understand why his eyes were crying with that heavenly melody.

After this Jack became known throughout the nation, charities raised money from his shows to rebuild the town, Jack traveled with his old piano and when he finally felt that the goal of the collection came to an end, he stopped playing and returned home.

Many record companies, upon hearing his melodies and feeling the emotion of crying, fiercely disputed who would sponsor that exceptional talent.

But Jack rejected those proposals, because they saw in the eyes of those people the desire to exploit him and make money behind his back.

Jack solo tocaba su piano en campañas de solidaridad y si sabia de antemano que esos recursos llegarían a dicha gente necesitada.

Con el tiempo la fama de Jack creció al punto de ganar múltiples premios musicales.

La gente aun asiste a sus conciertos de beneficencia pues sabe que la música que se toca del corazón para ayudar a otros es lo que le da su verdadero superpoder.
