I saved some coffee cherries from my bush in a plastic container to preserve them until I could process the seeds.

Guardé unas cerezas de café de mi mata en un contenedor plástico para conservarlas hasta poder procesar las semillas.

After a few weeks I opened the container and found that they had that kind of dark fuzz that you usually see on foods that are about to go bad.

Después de algunas semanas abrí el contenedor y encontré que tenían esa especie de pelusa oscura que suele verse en alimentos a punto de dañarse.

It is the fungus Aspergillus niger, which produces black mold on lettuce, tomatoes, chard, potatoes, cotton, onions, grapes and others.

Es el hongo Aspergillus niger, que produce moho negro en lechugas, tomates, acelgas, papas, algodón, cebollas, uvas y otros.

It is filamentous as it is made up of groups of elongated chains called hyphae.

The fungus Stachybotrys also produces black mold so it can be confused with Aspergillus Nigris.
