How Creative Is AI? - A Crocheter’s Point Of View

in Digital Lifestyle22 days ago

Unfortunately for me, I didn’t get to use AI for my assignments because it came after I was done with school or maybe I found it after school so I was left with just one option: for my crocheting. As a crocheter, it’s always a delight to make your own designs. Is it time consuming? Yes, is it stressful? Yes but is it also worth it? Yes it really is. I don’t know if it’s just me but I started seeing all these really nice pictures AI could generate and felt oh! What if I generated my crochet designs with AI?

Most crocheters don’t even talk about this but one of the most difficult things in crocheting is color combinations. Sometimes you know exactly what you want to do but do not know which colours will be perfect for the project. So I thought if AI was to design for me, then all I had to do was to put in my design command right? All my crochet life, I have never really tried seeking for help for my projects so when I got access to AI, I felt like “yayyy, what I need is here”. I tried using AI for my designs and…..

Before I forget, crocheting is 100% handmade unlike knitting. There are even knitting machines available now but I’m not sure if there could be crocheting machines but then handmade magic attached to crochet is what gives its unique touch. Back to what I was saying, I used AI for crochet designs and I liked it and didn’t like it..

Let me explain. If you have seen these AI generated pictures, you’ll see how dreamy they look. Oh I can’t deny the fact that they are so beautiful. However, as a crocheter they look so unrealistic. I already spoke about how crochet is 100% handmade, if something I’m supposed to make with my hands look unrealistic to me then how will I make it? At first glance, you go like wowwww and at second look you ask yourself “how are you even going to make that with just hands, hook and yarn?”.

I know there are really very talented people in the world that can crochet anything at all but it’s a little different with me. Now, let me talk from my point of view as a crocheter and what works for me. Anytime I want to crochet something, I check out which stitches and patterns would work for that project. Fortunately for me, I can even look at the picture and know which pattern or stitches but with AI, it’s different. I’m unable to know what pattern or stitches.

Sometimes it even feels like it’s a sewn piece and not crochet. Sometimes it looks like it was knitted. I simply can’t see what exactly it’s made of. Sometimes it even looks like it’s tapestry. Do you know what that means? It means I’ll have sit down and look on that design to bring out the pattern which means it’s even better I design my thing from scratch.

All in all, AI does a great job with generating art pieces. The “overall creativity” is really mind blowing but for me as a crocheter, I think the “level of creativity” is quite unrealistic, of course in terms of “crocheting”.It looks so cool that you end up not even knowing how to start and how to end. This is entirely my view and solely based on what I think because I believe there probably might be other crocheters somewhere finding AI generated designs very realistic and easy to crochet.

Looking from my un-crochetic point of view, these are absolutely dreamy and pretty looking. Seeing it from your point of view, an actual crochet's, it now turned ugly in my eyes. Not really, though, but surely unrealistic. I think it's smart idea getting ideas from AI. It's only sad that the ideas didn't turn out useful. Very well put together, Abenad. I see you got the hang of Meta AI.

Yeah, I’ve gotten a hang of it
Thank you

It left me asking if one could actually make designs just as the way AI brings the design out. I don't think so. It's unrealistic but one can do something with those colors and still come out nice. But it would take forever to want to do it just as those designs. It makes me wonder where on earth do these machines generate those images from? Aren't they controlled by humans? I feel some creative nerds of beings design that? Or am I wrong?

I have no idea if humans control AI but if they do maybe they haven’t added some crocheters in their team or something

Hehehe. This is funny.
Anyways, I am here again today from #dreemport and I am proud to be a #dreemerforlife

Haha thanks sweet dreemer

It's my pleasure.

come on, see pattern, like really. I didn't know or should I say my eyes didn't open to that aspect o, so Ai can generate crochet design too and I will be cracking my head wow. you just open my eyes to this. Time to start using ai to check for designs

😂😂😂😂I don’t know why this is making me laugh

It's really beautiful 😍😍❤️ and helpful
#dreemerforlife#

Thanks

Welcome 🤗🤗

Some time actually the pictures we see don't seem to be made of what they claim to be of
I think AI has this deceptive appearance , however, it gives an idea and for me that Idea is most important
Then it's left to the ingenuity of the person to make it what it is supposed to be

Yeah, it gives an idea

Honestly, the image looks so unreal. No doubt, it's beautiful but the main issue is how to go about it. In your case, I think its much better to keep on using your self- made designs. And then, you can decide to check out Ai once in a while in order to get some design ideas.

#Dreemerforlife.

Yeah that’s what I even do now

What a great discovery! Using AI to generate designs for your crotchets.
