Sometimes, the understanding of English goes a little awry in Thailand.
I'm not triggered. I genuinely appreciate their help in making their English speaking visitors welcome. God knows, it would be easier for me to learn Klingon than it would Thai, but even so, I can't understand why they can't just swallow their Thai pride and ask a native speaker just to check it before they make grand announcements such as in the photo above. I'm not tricking you here. If I panned the camera, there would be no 'city' by any definition within 60 miles. Donsak is a few shops and houses nestled in the forest and by the sea where we get off the boat on the mainland each week. It's a nice place but obviously has grand ambitions or no one knew the correct definition of city!
This is still better than the absolute numpties who make women's purses...
'Design from Itayl' manages to get both grammar and spelling incorrect, but for under two quid, does anyone care even if they could read it?
Anyway. I got another big day I today, stepwise, so we finished the day by going to another of those restaurants where you buy the food and cook it yourself.
It's called Moo ka ta in anglicised Thai...
But hang on. I wonder if there's an alternative universe where a Thai is writing an Actifit post about idiot English speakers anglicising Thai script incorrectly?!
So how do I weave this next picture into this post?
