Hey everyone! How was your week?

It’s safe to say I’ve only been sobering up from sugar comatose. Last week with some family celebrations that I couldn’t avoid, I had cakes and way too many carbs. Perhaps, I am just getting older and it all caught on to me that sugar is my biggest enemy. I spent a day just trying to sober up from sugar and getting back on track.

That being said, I also feel so overwhelmingly happy because of all of your wishes. While my life has been pretty challenging these past few months, I am happy to have some break from it all. It’s like at last! the break I needed.

Welcome to my brain dump, it’s morning and when I am able to sit down, sipping a cup of coffee while contemplating about life and emptying it out a little.

This morning, I decided to work from my favorite WFC spot to get more things done and focus on checking out if I did something I shouldn’t the last 3 days. Usually, around my family, I don’t use my brain much and go on autopilot. Even more so during the celebration, I let myself a little loose. There’s always some regret there but I try not to be so hard on myself. I needed that once in a while. It’s not like birthdays & marriages are everyday.

Speaking of sugar, it’s interesting how it does to our body. Can we avoid sugar completely? to be fair, that is pretty challenging. There is added sugar in almost everything we eat.

Even more so if we go outside, there is definitely gonna be sugar left and right. Technically, my life revolves around minimizing sugar. I don’t drink sugary drinks except lattes that I indulge once in a while.

I rarely eat rice other than a few times a week. These days I focus on eating more protein like chicken breast and lots of eggs. Protein makes me full longer and if I want some snacks, I made popcorn.

Then,on some occasions like the other day, I ate lots of cake and I felt so horrible. Technically, I could cave in to that but I decided to stop because I had built a good habit and I needed to maintain that.

As I grow older, I realize it’s okay making mistakes but we all should learn from it & bounce back. More importantly, I am also getting a lot more comfortable with the idea of reset and starting the grind again.

This morning, I woke up feeling so refreshed and tried to catch up with a lot of things. I replied to some comments left around. I am pretty astonished that time flies and even when I leave there is always a sea of news and technology always changes so rapidly. I feel like even a day missing from the net, I missed a few important news and inventions. Maybe I am getting FOMO again? I don’t know but that’s what I felt waking up. It was like having a long slumber party but anyway, I am back and still thriving. Some days, weekend feels a lot longer than it should

I literally can't survive without rice. As a person who's used to eating a lot of rice everyday, I really wonder how other people manage to consume less rice. I tried to reduce my rice intake before, but I ended feelings like a vegetable all day.

If you ask my mom and my other family members, they certainly can't survive without rice. I grew up eating noodles more than rice hehe. So, it's why I can survive without rice but probably can't with noodle. I am used to only eat twice/once a day if it involves rice. So, maybe that's why I don't notice significant issues with it. If you want to reduce your intake, I think starting with red rice could be great for you.

I love noodles also! I even pair it with rice! (lol carbo overload). Red rice isn't common here in our place, and it's quite hard to find. Maybe if I can find some of it, I can try it if it will suit my palate.

If you can find red rice, make sure to wash and soak them for 25 minutes before putting them into rice cooker. It's a trick I learned to make them taste similar to white rice.

Will definitely try this trick! Thanks @macchiata 。• ᵕ •。

The point is that sugar is classified as one of the most addictive substances in existence, which is why it is so difficult to cut it out completely.

I identify with what you say, as we get older carbohydrates, especially refined ones, affect our health more and more.

😅yeah I got affected pretty badly by it. So, I am trying to avoid it as much as I can despite my family loves sugar.

Currently reading through this while drinking a flat white in a cafe that I added extra sugar to...

Sugar is a killer for sure! It’s the most destructive component of our food system and causes the most issues. The problem is the shit is so addicting! Lol. I’m glad you were able to get back to eating a bit healthier!
